Noisy passenger mirror motor

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi all

So I was backing up today. I have it so the passenger mirror tilts downwards when backing up. I notice that the engine makes a slight grinding noise. The right side does not do so.

It did it almost every time i backed up. Not the usual "hmmmm" of a normal electric engine. Could be the actuator also or the mechanism. Anyone had that? Is there a way to lube the mechanism?

Mine does it too for the past two years. Mentioned it to the dealer while it was still under the warranty and they said it is normal. As long as it is functional, I guess they are not required to do anything about it.

I think my left side only does this. Of course it's more useful to have the right mirror move. Why you can't have both turn down automatically like in a BMW, I don't know.

It might make less noise if you change the side-to-side angle of the mirror. I noticed that with mine.
