If the engine cranks but fails to start you need spark, fuel and air

Thanks a million!!! I will take this to the mechanic especially because they have been doing ALL their diagnostics from the hood (the trans is out so NO CLUTCH to depress> I noticed that the clutch supplies power so maybe he is doing "bypasses" which may be a breach to the starting flow

My question to you is : My car is a coupe and this FSM you sent me is for a sedan (although It is a 6MT) is there a difference? I don't think so but wanted to ask before I go to them. Thanks again

The engines are the same and that is where your problem is.

Mechanic says that's just a switch mainly as a "cut off" and has nothing to do the problem. He says it has something to do with not getting the correct reading on both side of a meter

In your case it's a waste of time to try and determine what is going on with the car since the mechanic has it in parts. Point him to the FSM so he can troubleshoot the issue.

Should be easy enough as misfires are usually either spark plug, coil or injector issues.

Yes that's what he said. I hope it's not internal, the first mechanic did replace a piston and sent the heads out to machine shop a couple of times. Thanks again

Hmmm....why did he replace a single piston and not do a complete rebuild?

he said only one was bad...the car is running well now but it revs up and comes back down every 10 to 15 secs what could this be? I was thinking something like a vacuum or wire

Hmmm...don't know I've ever heard of replacing a single piston before.

Yes, that could be a vacuum issue. It's a place to start at least.
