well, its a carb'd 4ac auto SR5 chassis, so im not ruining a perfectly good car, i actually yanked it out of the weeds...
anywho, so i bought a long block from a local guy who knew nothing about it, said it was in the back of a 240 he bought and it was "rebuilt"
so i tore it down today and realized, its a 1998 240sx shortblock via the vin on the side and i'm assuming a frontier head as it has 5 cam caps as opposed to 6. my question is, are there any downsides to this head? if i spin it to 7k rpms will the last lobe come free from the rest of the cam? any suggestions as to upgrades while its apart? i am currently doing rings, bearings and lapping the valves for peace of mind and later plan on cams. also debating on on running carbs as the chassis is carbed and i wouldnt have to fool with converting it to efi, but im uncertain of this plan.
so any advise on the head or any preventive work that i should do now would be super beneficial. thanks
