Thought Id join and stop in when I had some time...
Nice site, lots of cool stuff to check out, thanks .
I have a car performance shop and restoration shop in Tucson Az where I reside
have had it since 1990..
I collect cars like most people here too.. US and Import.
1 car Ive been slowly restoring is a RHD 1971 Fairlady....
and a car I recently aquired is a 1970 Datsun 510 2dr. This car is more like a barn
find and being here in Az luckily its a almost totally rust free car, still wearing its
original orange paint.
The pic of my Fairlady is what it looked like the day I bought it out of San Diego about
10 yrs ago.
I have a line on buying a 70 Datsun 2000 locally too.
Ill be in and out of the site as time permits, hope post more here soon.
thanks

Sounds like you are collecting the whole set, I wish rust free datsuns still existed here in the rustbelt.

It's definately a trade-off. We do have better metal around here but rubber and plastic don't live long... Glad to see another Datsun Nut sorta close. I get together with the Tucson based Datsun Southwest guys every now-and-again, hope I see your collection sometime.

Ive had the Fairlady for about 10 yrs now...that pic was the day I got it.
Its not on the road to restoration and about 60% done...
The 510 is a real barn find, and is a 1 owner Az car..and been parked since 85.
Original paint still..chrome is in amazing shape... interior shot.

The first new car I bought was a '69 510 coupe for $1850. It was the first 2 door that the dealer took delivery on. The engine has dished pistons and produced 96hp before pollution control took their toll.

I was looking for one to no avail when I bought my 240Z. They are very rare east of the Mississippi.
How stock is the engine? Most I have seen for sale have been hacked badly.

Would love to see some more pictures.

my Fairlady came out of Hawaii and I did some mild rust repair to that
using a parts car...

this car, is still virgin...original paint, and sheetmetal front to back..
bumper to bumper..a real time capsule.
Original motor and dog leg 5 spd trans. It does have a Weber on it. Rest is
stock...
previous and only other owner of the car did Addco rear sway bar, lowering
springs and Konis on it back in the early 80s as well as the 13" Libra style
alloy American Racing rims. He did a little auto crossing in it back in the day.

Does the interior look as good as the exterior? Running yet? Mileage? Looks like a car worthy of being restored.

My coupe had the smaller side marker lights. Inside had the rectangular speedometer. Ended up trading it for a '71 510 wagon with an automatic transmission with round Speedo and Tach. Between the AT and pollution controls, there was no comparison between the two.

I imagine your car will drive closer to my '69 coupe.

I touched on the interior in an earlier post..
its all there, but sun beat..
still easier to restore an interior in a day or two then replacing
rust in metal for days on end and at a price.. :)
It should be running if I have time to work on it in a few hours.
Also got a lot of extra parts with it Ill prob be putting on ebay if I
find I dont need them.
This car is easily worth restoring.. once its running, the rest is pretty
easy , depending on how far you want to go with it.
personally, Id leave the body and paint as is, they are only original once
and this car would be great at cars shows under "survivor" class.

You are right about "survivor" class cars. Showed my Z at several car shows locally. A lot of comments but no trophies until I added the "s" word to the description.

Been trying to figure out the "Dog Years" equivalent for cars. If people live 75 years and cars live 17, our 1970 cars would be 194 "car years" old.
