Help!! I got a (allegedly) gently used 2012 M56S today and drove it home from Houston (to San Antonio), with no problems. Parked it in my driveway, went out to move it into the garage tonight before going to bed and the thing is absolutely DEADER THAN A DOORNAIL. Not a SINGLE spark. Nothing. Nada. Neither remote would even open the door. The "Start" button won't light; I mean this thing is acting like there's not even a battery in it.

This is my first foray outside the Toyota family, and it is NOT starting off well...anyone else experienced anything like this, and aside from calling AAA (which thankfully I'm a member of) and having the dealer check it out, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Your battery is dead. You must of left something on, or left the car on ACC. Happened to me twice in my car.

No need to panic, just change the battery, I'd personally recommend AC Delco, or tighten it.

lol...yeah, I'm aware the battery is dead. How does one leave the car on ACC? Not sure how that even happens....and just before I shut the car off for the last time, something happened that caused XM radio to go away (only channel 1 works) and the radio station pre-sets disappeared. This is more than just a battery issue...

Sounds like you could have a short or one of the battery terminals isn't tightened.
I would start with checking the battery connection.

It really was acting like a short....that worries the crap out of me, though...those things can be a bugger to locate/fix.

Yeah, it sounds like a loose terminal on the battery. Probably not the battery at all. Just something loose.

Happened to me a week or two after a new battery install.

Welcome to the Infiniti family! Sounds like something really simple. Don't let a little hiccup ruin what is going to be an otherwise beautiful experience. ;)

hopefully just a bad battery/connection.

Stop by your nearest Infiniti dealer and give them the VIN so they can print out a complete service history of the car....and see if/what little "problems" the first owner complained about and that the dealer hopefully repaired.......really should have done this BEFORE buying the car,to be sure you are not getting a "lemon"

Possible lose connection, all memory presets would be lost if that's the case, you may have accidentally pushed the "push to start" button and left it on "acc""? Or cut off the engine while still in gear which shuts engine off but keeps "acc"" on in order to place shifter back to park! Possible? Just saying... And obviously now the battery is dead which from experience a low voltage or almost dead battery tends to cause crazy things to happen with electrical components... For me, a new battery solved everything! Good luck! :gotme

I believe thats exactly what happened. Pretty scary that it's THAT easy to put the vehicle into a position to drain the battery. Once I got it jumped by AAA (which took hooking it up to TWO batteries it was so dead) and drove it around a while, it's not operating fine except for one thing: The Engine Disabler (I think that's what it's called) warning light is now on continuously...so, not sure if I still have some kind of short or what's going on there, but I'll have to get it into a dealer to get that checked out anyway....

Smoov, I got it jumped yesterday and drove around for about 2 hours....absolutely awesome. Or "beautiful". So much fun to drive, so quick, so responsive....I really think I'm going to like this car! :mike :mike

Buying a used car is always a gamble. The dealer should have given you a 30 day warranty? I would make them pay for the tow back & all repairs. Get your money's worth!

I have AAA and there was no "tow", just a jump start. Believe me, I've given the dealer a piece of my mind. He knows where I stand...

You mentioned you drove it from Houston to San Antonio, what dealer did you buy from if you don't mind sharing... :gotme

Glad to hear your M is better... I would keep an eye on that warning light it may just need to be reset (not sure if resetting the ECU would remove this light) :gotme your local dealer should help out if you are still under the 4/60 warranty! When my battery was replaced they cleared all codes!! :dblthumb:

Very interested in the dealer as well. I am in the market for a used Infiniti M35 as well.

Something to be careful about if you never had a push button start is to watch out how you turn the car off. If for some reason (while the car is running) and you double tap the button it will go into acc mode and the car stays on all the time. If the car is truly off and you leave anything electirc on the car will turn them off after awhile.

I had a very similiar problem last night. My car has been in the shop for a few days getting some cosmetic correction and enhancment performed.

My installer calls me last night, and says the car won't start. I went down to the shop, and found the battery was dead. After charging the battery, the "Key Warning" indicator was on, and it would go to accessory and ignition, but would not turn over.

After a quick search on the internet, I found that disconnecting the negative battery lead for 15 seconds may cure the no start condition. Sure enough, it did. The "Key Warning" indicator cleared, and the vehicle started. I surmise that the vehicle did not get turned off completely, and drained the battery.

In any event, I hope this may help someone who runs into this issue in the future.

Sorry for the delay. The dealership was Advantagecars.com, the internet sales group for Group 1 Auto. I wouldn't recommend buying from them. The car, while beautiful, immediately needed new tires (although they claim the tires that were on it "passed" their inspection), it needed the oil changed, and they didn't disclose that the previous owner was a smoker. I've had to put an additional $1,500 into the car since buying it putting on tires and trying to get the smell out (which I did, thanks to Gunn Infiniti here in San Antonio).
