If you are thinking about getting an even bigger cam than a stock 240's, there is a youtube video about an owner who ran a Nismo R4 with stock compression ratio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKTKf078 ... KRfQaCLch8 It has a mean sounding, lopey idle; but he changed the cam back to stock because it lost 15lbft of torque and gained only 5 peak horsepower. I'm not sure what other people have to say about it, but I think the compression might need to be raised as cams go bigger or else the difference will not be overwhelming. Since larger cams with more duration always reduce dynamic compression relative to static compression, you need more static compression to bring the dynamic up to where it needs to be.

From what I understand a stock 240sx cam is 240/248 and a stock truck cam is 232/232, not sure about the lift specs. I have heard people say that there is no difference between them, and then I hear that there is, so I'm just putting that out there. I know I never had a chance to compare them side to side or measure them. Nismo says the R4 has 270 duration on the intake side, but they don't say about the exhaust side. I think it might be a 270/270, but it still has way more duration than both stock cams.

I got to admit, our Nissan camshafts and lifters must have awesome friction surfaces. This is not the first time I read about someone swapping in a used cam that works out great, even using the "new" cam with their stock lifters.

I'm not sure on that one. Maybe the rockers use naps-z adjustable tips somehow fitted in place of the hydraulic guts on the stock pieces; but that is just a guess. I haven't torn down the stock pieces to see inside. If I remember correctly, the ones you can buy from places like HybridKA are converted stockers and require you to supply cores?

I know that you want the rocker tip to contact close to the center of the valve stem so it pushes straight down.

You might have to retune for the S-series TPS. It looks pretty sweet all painted up proper.

If ugliness is the mother of invention, then being broke is the father. I wonder if you could somehow internally shim the stock rockers. If you could, then it would be way less expensive than 375 dollars. By internally shim I mean small discs of metal installed under the hydraulic tips, which would have to be measured until the lash was correct. If would definitely take some test fitting; but what do you have more of, money or time? But like I said, I have never disassembled them to know what is going on in there.

i was thinking of getting those mech lifters and the cam to go with it
and they have a core charge for both of them
seeing i got 2 cams and 2 sets of lifters i can have a pair for back up or just send both in for core fees but im not sure if im going to do it yet

well, I'm planning on doing this as well, have all the stuff, just need gaskets. the fuel rail will not work, trucks have center-fed injectors and 240s have top-fed injectors. plus, the mounting platforms seem too be longer. at least compared to mine. here's a link to KA performance stuff... http://estore.websitepros.com/1636426/StoreFront.bok
I haven't purchased anything from them so I'm not sure how they are, but have emailed them quite a few questions and they answered them very quickly.

OBD2 trucks (96-97 and a few 95's) have the side-feed injectors and OBD1 still have the top feed. I hear that there are a few early OBD2 from the transition years that still have top feed, though.

Why have you had to rebuild the rear suspension 3 times. Was it a matter of necessity or improvement?

it was a little bit of both.

SET UP 1
first was when i swapped in a supercharged frontier axle.

PROBLEMS WITH THAT SET UP
the axle was too wide and the gearing was not so good for the HB.

SET UP 2
so i said to heck with it and threw the stock rear end back in it, made the three link, and welded the diff.

PROBLEMS WITH THAT SET UP
i didnt brace the frame enough so it twisted, the shocks i used where crappy, the angle i was running them at was too extreme, the axle hopped around a ton, the panhard bar was too short causing binding issued.

and now onto what i have now so far it feels awesome!!! i just need to have a muffler shop make me a new exhaust system mines way too low.

I'm kind of curious why you didn't do a triangulated four link. In fact, you nearly did with the trussed upper link. Would eliminate the need for a panhard bar all together.
