Despite being a big Cadillac guy, I've never really liked the Escalade much. My cousin had one for a while--the interior failed to impress, largely because it was just a Suburban with a little more leather. Up until the latest "We miss the 80s" revision of the Navigator, I always preferred it over the Buscalade because it felt more genuinely upscale inside and out.

The original QX, exterior-wise, is my favorite SUV ever. EVER. I love it. But the QX had the same problem as the Escalade until the mid-model redesign. After that, it became more worthy of its jacked-up pricetag.

The new QX is even nicer inside, but intolerably fugly outside.

I'd like to drive the QX, just to see what it's like. I have no desire to drive the Escalade though. This was a great article. :bigthumb:

I love the Infiniti's interior and it's power/drive train....but the exterior just doesn't do it for me...

I think I'm used to seeing all of the boxy SUV's now.

Old QX looked like a cool angry robot, like it was going to wake up at night, stomp around, and make a mess of the neighborhood. The interior was crap, but it was muscular and bold. Not sure what's up at Infiniti these days.

The 2007+ Escalade lost some character too. Its almost too refined. I had a 2006 short-wheelbase Escalade and had fun with it, though it wasn't as good in everyday driving as the Navigator. There was too much mush in the steering and the third row didn't fold flat into the floor, which was a pain for loading cargo (books).

I like the exterior of the Escalade MUCH better. The Inifiniti looks like a big M. The interior of the Infiniti however, looks nicer in my opinion.

Seems like the QX is better equipped tho.

It's a weird design for sure. The Patrol really dictated the future of the QX, when Infiniti stopped re-badging NIssans for the US market... remember, the QX was a gussied-up Armada.

I think I'd prefer it from the inside as well. Waiting to see one dropped on some proper wheels, maybe I'll like it more then.

Its not just weird. Its as if they intentionally sought to make it look as unappealing to as many people as possible. Maybe they're going after Toyota customers, who seem to all suffer from glaucoma.

Its a good list of features wrapped in a blanket of visual diarrhea.

i like the interior of the infiniti but geez there are so many things that should be changed with the exterior. the vents on the front fenders and the grill being larger than the headlights would be among the first things to fix. at the end of the day, more people will buy the caddy over the infiniti due to its name and vehicle recognition even if the infiniti is cheaper

It really does look like something Toyota might build. Especially from the back, it could EASILY be a Lexus.

I'll take the Escalade, I like the exterior and interior WAY better. I love Infiniti products, but since the 1st gen QX4, I haven't been interested in the QX line. The new QX looks like too much like a tall car and not enough like a large SUV, I could get similar looks if it were a crossover but it's a large SUV, I want it to resemble a truck but with more elegant features.

Agreed on all three counts. Perhaps they're banking on that... The new Toyotas are just awful.

I like the features available on the QX but I'd rather be seen driving the Caddy. Like has been said before the QX is too ugly. Seems as if designers these days really want to put their stamp on a new look. Too bad that look sucks most of the time.

Wow, can't believe you guys think it's ugly. I freaking love the look. Its bold and viscous, has character and isn't bland like the lil wayne mobile. That thing definitely has presence imo.

Just like every Nissan since the 370Z, it looks way better in person.

Like a mass murderer...

Like the Quest, I'm sure they'll fix it for the next generation and make it really nice. At least the guts are all correct.

I meant vicious. When i went to right click to correct, i accidentally click viscous instead of vicious.
