If your car smokes alot when it initially started id say valve seals, by your symptoms though id probably go with turbo seals. Id pull the turbo and check the front and the back for excess oil in the housings and on the turbine and compressor.

the engine is out already... thinking that it was my valve seal but know i think is pistons rings..
from the bit of knowledge i have a piston shouldn't have any type of play, well i checked my piston for play and they do have play, can it be that my pistons rings are gone? thats why it smoke.

Well yes, but it could be a number of things.... Rings and valve guide/seals are most common. Also the turbo can cause smoke.

well i took it apart today, i took a piston out, rod bearings are std also pistons are std.. what worries me is that the pistons have side to side play. if they are move you can hear them hit the piston bore wall..
motor has not spun a bearing should i order bearing in std in acl or clivite or any other brand besides stock nissans. or should i send my crank to get work on?

piston measurements were 85.80
block bore was 85.90
stock spec

.. my next step is to measure piston ring wear and check for taper or any other wear in the cylinder walls.
i have the fsm for s14 sr.. thats what im following for reference.
my plan is to stay with stock bottom end. but if necessary ill go .5 over and eagle rods and acl or clevite bearing.

How did you measure the bore and piston size? I don't remember the min specs but if you are .1 inch than that is no good. Did you use snap gauges and a micrometer? Your measurements don't sound right.

That's .1 mm... I hope it's not nearly an 1/8" out! lol

Haha! I didn't even think about that, I just automatically starting thinking in thousandths of an inch difference as if I were measuring between the piston and wall. Yeah 1/10 of an inch would be scary.
