Hey folks.

I know this has been discussed before, but it seems like I have some new information that hasn't been posted on NICO specifically before. Or, at least that I haven't seen posted anywhere.

I am coming from a 2007 M35, which had a DVD based system. So, all you did was pop the disc in and you're good.mI heard that after 2008, the navigation moved to being hard drive based and thus required the dealer to perform the update. When looking for the latest update online, Navigation.com states that you get 5 discs keyed to your Navigation units ID. This contradicted what I've been told, so I did some more searching.

Evidently, in 2010, Nissan/Infiniti discontinued the dealer mandate and now you can once again buy the discs yourself however they are keyed to a license, etc.

Here is the link to the maps for my year (2011). I also checked the 2014 Q70, and it also comes on 5 discs.

In case anyone was unsure, I just wanted to share this information. I will be purchasing the 2015 maps as mine are from 09-10 and need updating.

Great find and info Ilya!

Now I wonder how exactly does this work? Do you insert the discs in then they get uploaded or what??

Looks like it. I checked my system out today and it does have a button in the Map Version screen for "DVD" or something along those lines.

I would be interested but I don't know how you would get 2 or more different activation codes by splitting the cost with someone. For example, say I go in half with you, and you put in the order. You would get the 5 DVDs with all the maps on them and 1 activation code. After you've uploaded the DVDs, you've already used the 1 activation code and I'm left with nothing. :gotme

You're basically buying an activation code for $180

Unless you know of a different way...

Oh. I guess I misunderstood what they were selling. I thought you need a radio ID to put the order in, but it's not locked to that ID. And then the activation code didn't expire. Didn't realize the system phones home to say that it's been activated once already.

EDIT: You are correct, it is hard coded to that Unit ID. So, nevermind.

I'm in the same boat, time for a map update to 2015. Too bad we can't split it.

Yeah. I'll be forking over the money today, sadly. $179...but rumor has it there is a voice patch on the disc too. I'm still running the original navigation version.

I updated my 2011 M37x with the 2014 discs a couple months ago. It took about 3 hours. I was a little disappointed that there were several exits, lanes, ramps, and business in my area (Kansas city) that have been around for over a year that weren't on the update. All in all though it's pretty solid. I hope in the future there will be better search/voice similar to siri or google voice that will help me navigate to specific locations a little easier. Good system though.

If you wait until the early Summer, they always go on sale for $99.

Mine was so old and I do travel in the winter that I had to do it.

Anyway, discs came in today. Took an hour and twenty minutes, but it's all good. So far no issues noticed.

Can someone let me know what the map and program version is supposed to be after an update? I bought my 2011 M37x back in June. In the glove box was the navigation update dvd's with a license code, but I can't tell if the previous owner ever installed the update. My current map version is GEN4 5.1 and the program version is X1UC2004. The DVD set says map version X9 / 2014. Thanks!

If I remember to check, I'll try to get the version. Pretty sure it's not GEN4 5.1, but it's also not 2015 whatever either...it's some weird number string.

Ok thanks, I'd really appreciate it. I've noticed a lot of roads in my area that have been around for a few years are missing from my current update..

Cheers
