My windshield has light scrathes. Somebody please HELP!!!!!

I have a 03 Altima, it has some light scrathes on the windshield. I guess the guy that had the car before used the wipers when the window was dry. Is there anything that I can use to get the light scrathes off the windshield with? You cant feel the scrathes but they get to be a pain when I am driving and the sun is hitting the windshield. I would rather try getting the scrathes out then to pay 200$ for a windshield. Thanks for any information that anybody can give.
