Updated Thread Intro (04-19-16):

This thread is about my long-term 240SX project on the road to becoming my competitive track car. This thread began while I was still in college so updates have been slow as funds became available, with the trend being relatively the same after I started working after graduation. The thread will be picking up quite a bit soon, as time and funds are slowly becoming a little more readily available. It's time to get serious!

The thread starts out covering my journey with my 92 240sx coupe, which will be coming to a close soon. I will be switching everything over to my 96 S14 within the next few months, so towards the end of this thread you will see a new chassis! I am building this car to be competitive in the NASA TT1 class regionally here in Arizona. I will also be keeping an eye on the global time attack rule book to make sure the car stays withing the limited RWD class, so I can explore possibilities with that series as well. I hope you enjoy browsing my thread; I have learned a lot over the years, and this thread documents a lot of it. This is my oldest build thread on any forum, and I will always continue to update it. Please leave feedback on more current events and if you have any questions on older posts, please quote them and I'll do my best to answer quickly. Thanks for taking a look!

------------------------------------------

Original Intro: 06-10-08

This thread is about my long-term 240SX project. My goal is a fully built bottom end, with a decently done up top end all supporting a GT3071R Twin Scroll turbo setup. I'd like to be close to 500rwhp with a very smooth power band. The car is being built for the eventual goal to be a pure track car (as in road racing). However, since I am not rich, and I do not have tons of funding, it will be a general purpose race car until my ultimate goal is achieved (drag racing, drifting, auto-x, track days, etc). This car will most likely be a 10-15 year project (I started it in 2003).

-------------------------------------------

Well, it has begun! My S13 is now in permanent hibernation in the garage until she is finished with the latest project(s). I'll post the happenings as they go....

I'll try to keep this post updated!

Yeah, I've been dumping a lot of money into this! Sucks being a college student, it takes forever!!! Haha I wanted the extra boost response/lower end, that's why I went with the 71R. I'll be able to make plenty of power with this turbo, haha.

Well, here is a little update. Yesterday I spent all day cleaning the garage preparing to work on this project, so I didn't even get to start until this afternoon. So I decided to start to clean the engine...

Here is the exhaust side of the engine before cleaning

Here is the exhaust side of the engine after cleaning

Ran out of cleaning stuff, so i decided to mock up the turbo setup so I can figure out my plumbing

More to come...

lol. I'm going to just tune around 20psi (which should net me around 400whp) for now, because I have a stock bottom end. Next winter, I'm building the bottom end, and with the help of my trusty boost controller and power fc, I'll make more!

Well, I'm almost done cleaning the motor. Just have to finish the rear and the bottom of it now. I also cleaned up the valve cover as best as I could (it's a bit rough, lol), installed all new valve cover gaskets and grommets, plugs, coils, and the coil sub harness. I'll finish cleaning on Sunday, and then put everything together then as well...

Well, I got around to working on the motor today....

Installed the Intake Manifold, Tomei 740cc Injectors, Tomei Adjustable FPR, Nismo Motor Mounts, and the new Fuel Rail...

Before the Intake Mani, I put in all new coolant hoses underneath...

Looking good and clean but the pulleys throw it off a little bit I have the same problem with my two SR's. Maybe I may have to spend the $200+ for GReddy pullies

I have this pulley Kit and love it. 1.5lb custom crank pulley and all 3 megan acc. pulleys for $200. Can't beat it. Stock pulley is 5.5lbs.http://www.jgycustoms.com/240sx/underhood.htm @12whp upgrade.

I agree about the pulleys, lol. However, that's a mod I can do when the motor is in the car no prob, so I'm just going to wait till after I get her running...

Haha, yeah I have it. It's just not on. The pump is still attached to the car, and the bracket needs to be cleaned still!
