Hello all, new to Nisan and these forums but lovin the community so far.

I have an SV AWD and have driven 1500 miles with a mix of highway and city. I leave my AWD-V on. I stay mostly in sport mode, but I use eco mode in traffic jams, and normal mode while warming up for the first 5 minutes of driving.

I made 6 fill-ups so far:
1) 20.5mpg
2) 23.6mpg
3) 24.6mpg
4) 26.7mpg
5) 26.4mpg
6) 29.8mpg (it's really weird because this is the time that I really pushed the engine. Manual said to take it easy before 1200 miles. This fill up saw 6k+ rpm a bunch of times)

At first my MPG sucked and I was starting to have regrets (as mpg was a big tipping point to buying this car), but as you can see, the break-in on fuel economy is drastic. I have a very slight feeling that the dealer put in non-premium gas on my first tank though.

PS: the mpg was calculated using the miles on odometer and gallons paid for at the pump. The electronic MPG meters are consistently 3-6 miles under what the actual mpg is. That thing is useless

update:
Well, I've added on another 1000 miles and here are the numbers for me
again, mostly a mix of highway(i-95 including traffic jams) and city driving (including a Boulevard I frequently take - 50mph zone with stop lights every 1/4 mile)
100% sport mode and AWD-V (I stopped using normal and eco)
7) 28.8mpg
8) 29mpg
9) 21mpg (all city)
10) 27.8mpg

Welcome to NICO :dblthumb:

As the engine breaks in it actually becomes more efficient. Things like the rings and whatnot break in and seal the combustion process better etc. 29 mpg is pretty good for actual driving. I always assume 5mpg less then whatever is advertised, mostly because I don't drive with mileage in mind. With a turbo it's even worse because boost feeeeeeels so good it's almost impossible to stay out of it. At least for me it is :chuckle:

Great report on gas milage! Thanks for joining us!

I think you are correct about the dealer putting regular gas in for the first fill. That would cause the engine to run a little less efficiently than it should and lead to lower than expected gas milage.. Of course the first few thousand miles are typically not as efficient as later on.. but that is a pretty drastic shift and I suspect the gas may have been part of it.

Another possibility is the CVT computer is learning and adjusting it's control of the gearing to your driving style. My Rogue has CVT and it took some time to get use to me and me to it.

Anyhow.. congrats on the purchase! I hope you are enjoying the Juke, and please do keep us updated on the mpg as you go since that is certainly an important issue for many potential buyers.

That's a pretty nice upward curve right there. I was wondering what people's real world MPG was going to be. Thanks for posting!

That's some pretty impressive numbers. I don't think it was this drastic during the break-in period when we bought the Cube. Well done! :bigthumb:

I would really be interested to see what mileage numbers a Juke can do if driven conservatively.

I routinely average 28mpg in my Rogue (FWD) 70% highway/30% city. Although I have seen 30mpg during the summer time driving primarily highway at 55-60mph.

I have not been able to get those types of numbers from my Juke (driving style?). Maybe after another couple hundred miles? The gas tank is really small in this thing. A fillup is normally only 10-11 gallons. I have an SV-AWD CVT version and have had the following results. My air is always on, the car is always in AWD-V mode, I am an aggressive driver and the driving is a mix of 60/40 mix of highway/city. I have just over 2k miles on it and have the following numbers:

23.8
24.1
24.5
24.5
23.9
24.2

Those aren't bad numbers to be getting if you are driving aggressively, GRey. Anyone gotten MPG numbers while out of AWD-V and in ECO mode yet? I'd be interested to see the difference.

I have 800 miles on my Juke SV and the Drive Info ICON screen says 28MPH ( not sure if this is suppose to be MPG ) but the computer on the Dash reads 22 MPG. I reset the dash computer every time I fill up and it's always the same. I do about 60/40 Highway to City driving and there are alot of hills where I live. I have not calculated this myself yet to see if it was accurate. I also drive mostly in FWD and ECO mode. Does not seem to make a difference in AWD mode tho.

Do you guys use premium fuel? This to me is the biggest drawback of this model

Yep, always use premium. Should cost me about an extra $115 this year. It only costs about .20 more /gal and I fill up (about 11 gal) about once a week (52 weeks). I don't see a real drawback, but that's my opinion.

When premium hits $4 a gallon next year, it's already $3.75 in Chicago, you'll see a lot of buyers shying away from any vehicle that runs premium. Even the hot Cadillac engines run on regular now, as do most Hondas and Toyotas. I really enjoyed the Juke when I did a test drive but wish they would have put the Rogue engine in it instead.

yeah, but if premium is $4.00 per gallon, regular would be like $3.80 per gallon... So you're still going to be spending X amount of dollars per year on gas.

An extra 20 cents per gallon works out to like X + $120 per year, assuming 15000 miles driven and 25 mpg

who would spend $25000 on a vehicle but wouldn't be able to afford an extra 120 per year

^ Yeah, pretty much nailed it on the head.
Besides, you CAN run regular in it if you want, but your fuel economy will probably suffer. It'll most likely end up costing you more than just putting premium in it in the first place.

I just hate to give the oil companys more than I have to. I've had several cars that required premium fuel over the years, but being retired now living on a fixed income I've become more cost conscious.

...so put regular in it.
You could also add some octane booster, which is most likely made in this country, but will probably end up costing you more than just buying premium in the first place.

I have 6000 miles on my 2010 cube CVT

MPG at 57 mph on cruise is 35 mpg after subtracting 2 mpg from the display
mpg at 70 mph on cruise 30.4 mpg after subtracting 2 mpg from display.

Big difference , if this is more than most are getting I will tell you how I did it but the 70 mph mpg seems low
will it go up after a 10,000 mile break in?

Razor, I'm jealous of your gas mileage but I don't think I would trade my turbo in for it. I would think that at 6k miles your engine would be pretty settled in by now or at least close to what you could expect from here out.

Very intersting numbers. I've got the AWD turbo with just over 4,300 miles. It has consitently averaged 21.4 MPG driving 60/40 highway/city. Pretty lousy, and no improvement. The very best I've gotten on a tank, 100% highway, with a tailwind - 24.25MPG. Awful.

It's been cold, slippery, snowy and just plain miserable here in Cleveland this winter. I am still getting about 23mpg with extended idling in traffic and warm up times. Is that 21.4 based on the computer or are you actually taking the mileage and dividing the gallons that you are putting in it?

I'm starting to think there's something wrong with my Juke. I'm at 600 miles and my mileage is 18.1mpg. Terrible! That's a combo of NYC and highway mikes. My mpg actually went down driving on the highway today. I'm a little miffed, to say the least. If something wrong with my car?

Are you calculating your mileage yourself or using the mpg stated on the dash display? The dash display is a couple mpg's low. Also, how long are you sitting in traffic? That will kill your mileage, I'm sure you already knew that ;)

I have over 8k miles now and I seem to be steady at around 24mpg and I have been keeping it mostly in Sport mode with 60/40 - city/highway split.

Regular gas has risen to $4.19 here in western Illinois, on my last visit to Chicago premium has hit $5.00+ a gallon. I'm really glad I stuck with my 2008 Rogue which gets 28/30 mpg. I will admit though after driving my friends Juke that it is a really fun vehicle, and for short around town drives I think it fills a big niche. My friends biggest complaint aside from requiring premium fuel is the lack of storage space. Great fun to drive but just not very practical.

20 mpg driving like I stole it. Mostly city for the first 1600 miles. A lot more fun than the sweet looking Rogue. And I work a Nissan Dealership.

My mileage is starting to go up. I am now averaging almost 27 mpg since the snow has disappeared.

I am finding that running regular gas at 2000 rpm (60mph) on highway with cruise control on gets reasonable mileage. Under 40 mph suffers from poor power and you have to push on throttle. Above 60 mph (2000rpm) mileage drops off as you pay the pump for every increase. I can get around 26 mpg (better on the open road) but it drops fast in stop and go city driving or HILLS. Any hill seems to kill this car. Has anybody tried any tricks with getting it more air or removing the spare, anything like that. I would like to see Nissan put some light weight materials on this thing top get the weight down a little bit. They need to work on something. I drove Altima from Toms Brook VA to Charlotte NC and got 38 mpg. I would get probably 27 with the Juke in Eco mode and add 45 minutes to the trip. What about the VW that auto shuts down the engine at red lights? Can we do that?
Or maybe something that allows this car to roll free. Glad I leased- this puppy will be going home with the dealer one day.
