My housewarming gift to myself...

Postby cmfireman » Sat Apr 10, 2010 2:53 pm

So I have about this much grass to cut: (around 2 3/4 acres)

and it took forever on this:

so I bought this!!

Scag Freedom Z 48" 26hp Briggs ELS. I looked around for a while, and finally decided on the Scag over the Hustler Fastrak because it had a few more options and was more comfortable for the same price.

It's considered an entry level commercial or homeowner machine, but if you compare this thing to a Lowe's "John Deere", it is a friggen tank. 7 gauge deck and weighs in at about 800 lbs.

It took me about 1 hr and 10 min. to mow on the yard tractor, and I knocked it out in 30 on the Z.

The best part is, it's so fun to ride, I may have my wife cutting the grass soon!!

Awesome, Scag make a good mower. I did landscaping all last year and we used a SCAG zero turn, and a SCAG walk behind, definitely a good investment, now remove that silly rollbar.

I actually like the ROPS. It only sits about a foot over my head, and I have some hilly property to mow.

Here's a pic of my actual mower at my house:

Dammit! I've already given it to my father in law. That would have been sweet!

that would of been fun. and you are right to keep the roll bar that thing seems as though it would be perfect to put an umbrella on or something. don't want a sunburn.

I don't understand lawns that large - seems like a waste of time & money. If I had that much land it would be wooded or natural.
