I can't tell you the name of that particular hose but there are 2 that come up from near the tail lights and one that comes up next to the filler neck and they lead tot he expansion tank located behind the upper quarter panel trim, this is to allow all the air to get otu of the tank since the filler neck enters the side, anyhow if you damage a hose heater hose will work in a pinch but it should be replaced with hoses rated for fuel which you might need to get from a hose specialty shop

So it's been a long while, my car looks so much better than it used to, but now i have a pretty bad problem. it's something I cant identify, but maybe one of you guys can. Whenever i accelerate in my car (forward or reverse), it doesn't matter how slowly, I get a loud, very noticable TANG! sound. It just does it over and over TANGTANGTANGTANG. until i just coast. it kinda sounds like when you were a kid and you put a baseball card in the spokes of your bike wheel, except this aint' no huffy, this is my baby. I've checked U joints, all four in the back, where it sounds like its coming from. they have a little give, but nothing too serious. I'm just stumped. If you have any idea, let me know. Also, my stinkin' wipers wont work. I've eliminated the motor as the problem, so it's in the switch. how should i go about taking it apart, or cleaning it or what should i do?
Thanks Guys,
Z kid-- Kenneth

TANG!
-I would check the torque on the wheel lugs first.
-Jacking one wheel off the ground and driving that one wheel might help you isolate the noise to a particular side. Brake drum, Bearing...
-Hopefully it is not something related to the clutch as it appears from your troubleshooting, it disappears when "coasting" (clutch pedal depressed).
-A good thing to also remember that everything shifts position under loads. Stuff like rubber engine/trany/diff mounts may appear to be holding but are not. Use a pry-bar to check these out.
-Speedo cable???
Wipers
-Stalk switches are very expensive for new. I purchased a rebuilt switch from Patric, e-mail [email protected] He will be able to rebuild for you. Ask him for a quote. Or you can try and do it yourself. They are pretty archaic in design. I would say "go for it" if you are good with that type of thing. The wipers are not working anyway...what have you got to loose???

And the car looks great! Nice job. :dblthumb:

my first thought is the pinion mount, could also be one f the 6 U oints but I'd have a oo9d look at the pinion mount first, and might want to have a look at the tans mount while youre under there
