Monthly Poll-July, and caption contest winner

Postby Poyzinous » Wed Jul 01, 2009 1:18 am

We all love our G35, and Infiniti for that matter. So, if we had to wipe Infiniti off the automotive map, and with it gallons and gallons of merciless tears from our faces, Who would get our butt in their driver's seat? There are other 'fish in the sea'. Now granted, some of us are wetting ourselves just thinking about walking away from the car we love, but lets think about what we would go for if we had to give up our beloved and desired G's.
Click whichever option best suits you, and post your thoughts as far as your feelings go.

Now, for the Contest winner. There were many good captions. Some made me Some made me some made me So lets first give it up for our 2nd and 3rd place posts:

Congrats. Well deserved one I thought it was the funniest too.

Poll is a good one. 'd go for a 370Z. It is slick and fast enough. Maybe save up for a GT-R.

Congrats to all who entered. You are a funny bunch and I look forward to seeing what Gabe comes up with next!

Congrats To KMC for winning! The prize will and be well worth the thought you put into it!

As for the poll..I would probably go back and buy my old 03 Maxima SE. I loved that car and would loved to have modded the hell out of it.

Runner up...I've ALWAYS had a soft spot for Audi's

If I had to buy another car right now...it would be a tough choice. I really love this car. Some others I would consider:

Lexus IS convertible
370Z

If I really didn't care about quality or resale:

Pontiac G8
Hemi Challenger

If I got rid of my G today, I would go back to a domestic car more than likely. Either a Caddy CTS or a Ford something or other. There are definitely days I wish I had a SUV or something of that nature.

If my bounds were unlimited, I would probably replace my G with a used SUV or diesel pickup. Oh, bounds were unlimited, sorry...an Aston Martin DB9 on top of that.

Congrats all!!

If the G was not available, I would consider:

Modding another SVT Cobra
Z350 or Z370
G8 GT or GXP
M3
Suburu - have never driven one and have always wanted to check them out.
vette

I love test driving cars, so I'm sure I would check out some others, but above is what comes to mind quickly

I'd go back to BMW...even though you have to fix them constantly.

I agree, the CVT tranny sucks.

Maybe a Joke will bring some of you to life, and get kmckis1029 to claim his prize. I dont think 08.black.g37 would want to claim it by default.

A charity organization realized that all but one of their towns' highest class residents had donated to them. The most successful lawyer. The Manager of the charity called the lawyer to try and get him to donate. The conversation went as follows:
"Sir, our research shows us that although your yearly salary is just over a million dollars, you've never donated to our charity. Wouldn't you feel proud to give back to the town? "
The lawyer replies: "Tell me something, did your research show that my dying cancerous mother has medical bills that are triple her annual income?"
manager: "No sir, I was not aware..."
"Or that my brother is a blind, disabled war veteran who can't work because he is a paraplegic?"
"I'm sorr..."
"How about my sister? Her husband died in a tragic car accident, leaving her jobless with 3 children!"
feeling embarrassed, the manager tells him: "I had no idea, I'm not sure what to sa..."
"SO, what makes you think I'll give money to your charity? When I dont even give my family a penny?"

The Lexus convertible has nothing on the G. The technology specific to the Infiniti blows all the others in that market out of the water. The 370 is a great car but too small for a DD

Other than the Lex I have to agree with you one car selections. The Gate and Challenger/Charger/Magnum with either the 5.8? or 6.1 is a straight line monster. If I were single I would buy one and a bunch of cheap tires, but that would be just a toy. They are not reliable enough and their warranty sucks considering they are using European parts ($$$) with American build quality At least the Gate is built by Holden but I think I would get a GTO, I always liked those.

If only Infiniti were to vanish and no other companies I would consider an 09 Titan crew cab, you can pick one up for 15g off msrp. A used 08 QX56 would be a nice addition, well I don't know if the scenerio is supposed to be if Infiniti was gone would thepast models also be gone or could I still buy a left over?

If money were no option... Hands down McLauren SLR all day long.

*McLaren* not Lauren. I wonder if Holden is built better than GM? I kinda like the G8. SLP though. 500 supercharged HP FTW. The Dodge cars are all boats. I'd like SOMETHING in the handling department. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRNW1ezITFY

That's modest. I would shoot for the stars. It's too bad the only thing Japan has to offer is the GT-R although a great car it's not completely practical.

One of my frequent customers came in recently with his new G8 loaded (msrp ~44k) he wouldn't admit to what he payed for it but there is no way that car will be worth anything near 30 in three years. The five year depreciation on that car should be on par for domestics although the used market for domestics is pretty much dead, and new models are a dime a dozen. However if you are like me and drive cars until they are no longer worth keeping one of these would be a decent second/family car. However they are just not really well built cars and have interesting quirks I would be a doughnut on the fact that 95+% of the readers of this would be <satisfied with the squeaks rattles and noises these things make. I know they drove me nuts on the few I have driven. At least that applies to the rash of used 300s, Chargers and that other one...the bigger one.

If I learned how to spell it and stop letting Google search finish it for me I know I will never learn but I really don't care... You know exactly what I was talking about. Holden seems to be a little better than GM although their stuff is all European inspired and GM build so it is um.... something. I like the Aussie style personally. The GM would be the way to go for a cheap fast car, wow it looks so much worse on the screen.

modest... i want a car that can be driven everyday... not some super car that needs new oil every 1000 miles and that basicially ends up being a parking lot ornament...

even if i was super rich i wouldnt have a car in my driveway that couldnt serve as a daliy driver... no point in buying it if i cant enjoy it, thats how i see it... but yeah i guess people do collect cars... guess im not one of them...

Well with UPS, as long as the package is less than 30lbs it costs the same as a 1lb package to ship. So I could either have:
A) put your prize package and 6 sets of used brake pads
B) Put your prize package and 2 Bricks left over from the garden decoration bases my dad had left over.
C) Put your prize package and nothing else, BS-ing the weight measurement, as UPS doesn't take it as official, but instead weighs it themselves and keeps it for their records.
or D) Put your prize package, and one of my 3 10lb dumbells. (I only need 2 anyway)

Guess which one is correct! I know I said I wouldn't joke around, but since you mentioned it I had to. You'll find a few pretty useless items in your prize package... muah hahahahaha!!!!!

i mean you even got tea from the waiting room... last time i was at the dealer i got some tea while i waited on my 30k service

UPS wasnt friendly to your package...

But thanks man... great prize pack Im about to change my in-cabin filter as soon as post this... and those two oil filters will save me money on my next two oil changes... oh and i have no idea what CF5 is, never used it before, but on my next oil change ill add it to the tank.

The packet of tea is a PG version of what usually gets shipped out with things of the such. It's kind of funny if something gets shipped from our dealer just what is in the box.

That's a pretty decent setup there. The carbon filter and remote are great car guy things. Remote batteries, lol they are one of those things you forget about until you need it. Trim clips are the same way, I personally have a secret stash of them and they come in handy as they tend to break as they age and are exposed to engine temperatures.

Gabe- Where did you find paper towels? lol
