This thread piqued a concern of mine that I've never addressed...and I didn't deem it worth of starting a new thread. So here goes..
I've got a 2002 QX4 and I vaguely remember my vehicle having a fuel filler flap on the inside of the fuel filler neck that is supposed to prevent debris getting into the tank and conversely, vapors from escaping once the cap is removed prior to and post fill-up. I'm not sure if that's the correct terminology for the piece but it's the best I can come up with it. It's not a valve, but rather, just a spring loaded round piece of silver metal that the gas nozzle moves out of the way once inserted into the fuel filler neck.
Am I confusing this with another vehicle that I've owned? I obviously don't have this piece anymore...so if I did I can only imagine that it's floating in my tank or resting on the bottom. Could this pose any problems? I get garbage for fuel economy but that's always been the case.
Thanks, and I apologize in advance for resurrecting an old thread.
PS: Town, compared to my fuel filler lid, I'd be more than willing to eat my dinner off of yours!
