Every once in awhile when going from reverse to park and my mirror is returning to its normal position it starts turning out farther than where I had it and tries to pass its turn limit making the mirror click about 3 or 4 times. Once I readjust it to where I want it this won't happen for a while then randomly happen again. The dealer said they didn't see anything wrong with it. Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a permanent fix? Or am I unknowingly doing something that causes it to happen?

My driver side mirror is doing the same thing, I haven't had a chance to get it to the dealer yet.

Same problem here. I messed with the mirror adjustement forever, thinking it was user error. I ended up just adjusting the reverse position to match the normal position, and the mirrors no longer move at all, which solved the problem.

Mine did that a long time ago and it didn't occur to me to reprogram it. When I took it to the dealer, they said there was a bad actuator and replaced it. Seems like there was a TSB about it. It did it again and they didn't find anything wrong and reprogramming it seemed to work. That said, I don't know if it would otherwise be an intermittent fix, as I don't use that feature, so I only see it working (or messing up) if someone else turns it on or it gets bumped on.

About a year ago, I had the same problem on passenger side mirror. I put it in reverse in tilt-down mode and the mirror would ratchet beyond the normal setting. I took it in to the Infiniti dealer and diagnosed it as a bad actuator and motor. It was cover under my Infiniti Elite Plan. Not an inexpensive fix if it's out of pocket.

thanks for the input guys. I printed out the troubleshooting for the mirror from the shop manual I found on here. So I have an idea of what might be failing. I'm waiting for it to happen again so I can take it to the dealer. Last time I had them check it was after I readjusted it so the tech couldn't get it to fail.

yeah i do. I was an electrician while in the army. It happens with all these "queertrons" (as we would call them) in these electronics. Pilots hated when I gave them that answer cuz they thought I was giving them BS.
