1997 I30 Pearl White with Tan Leather interior. ~70,000 miles on it. Recently changed to synthetic oil and averaged 28.5 MPG on a trip from Sacramento to Portland, Kennewick, WA, Seattle, and Victoria, BC. Three people in the car, two weeks worth of luggage, and the A/C on most of the time. Calculated with GPS not the odometer. I was quite surprised and pleased to say the least. Wonderful travelling car!!

Great mileage! What was promised on your new car sticker for town/country? I've had a I35 Sport for a month, and tried to see how high I could get my mileage over a 10 mile stretch. Since I'm an Illinois "flatlander", odds were in my favor. But I was still surprised to get 41 MPG (one person; no A/C; 1,800 on OD; 89 octane; original organic 5W/30W). My in in-town is typically 24-25 mpg, while highway is 29-32. Is my computer optimistic? What experience have others had??

PLease don't put any more 89octane in your car, especially in the summer.Yes you have knock sensors which really help, but you are really risking your safety reserve when using less than 91 (worse in summer).(Your ,milage numbers are fantastic though)

I am in no way an engineer nor do I want to start a debate about synthetic vs organic oils as they apply to mileage that usually consume a board.

But I will give my two cents on why I achieved such relatively great mileage during my trip.

1. Used cruise control for most of the trip.2. I think the VQ motor is most efficient at around 3000 rpm and since our average speed was 80 mph, the engine was working efficiently most of the time.3. The air was cooler in the northwest as supposed to Sacramento (where I live) where in the summer it's usually 100+ with little humidity. So I guess the fuel management computer was working well. :D

That said, as soon as I got back to Sac, my mileage dropped since I commute at night and can do 90+ on my way to and from work. It's amazing what 500-1000 rpms can do for one's mileage!

I guess once Georgie goes to war and the oil companies jack up their prices because of oil market "unstability", I will drive 55...

Hey Harold, Car is still great (would it be anything less?) LOL I can't wait to see yours with the new turbo!

We have had a few smallish Nissan Meets the past few weeks actually. Look in the meets section on here for the next one, there will be posts on here for it for sure. Anything about a meet that is posted on here will be on Louisville Streets too I'm sure. Look for a larger meet coming up in maybe October!

I have had my 99 I30 T for about two months. No pics yet, but love the car. I do wish I had heated seats and mirrors however. I had them on my 94 J30T. There are some great looking cars on this forum.

i'm experiencing just the opposite. no heated seats on the J30, but heated on the I30. SInce you have had both, how do you compare the two interiors of the J and I?

The J interior more of a throw-back to Jaguar-type feel. The I seems more rectangular and crisp. I did like the feel of the J30 leather....a somewhat smoother texture. All in all...and this is an edited post....I have enjoyed the two Infinitis more than most of my cars except for the V8 Taurus SHO stolen from me in October 2002. I have a very good after market alarm on my I30 now with a redundant starter kill. The dealer told me that this was the second one he had seen with the after market alarm. So be it. Love the I30...if they still were making the J30 I would probably get another.
