I did the blinker mod on my 2005 G35x. it wasnt hard at all... all you are doing is cutting one wire and reconnecting it to another. you dont have to remove the tires. you just remove the plastic wheel well cover thats on the head light side. there are just three clips and one screw to remove, and you have complete access to the wires you need. I used a wire tap on both sides to make it clean and simple. i loosely followed the instructions found here:

http://www.6mt.net/mod-g35-sidemarker.php

This is what i used to do the wiring:

18 gauge wire, auto tape, and "tap in" connectors from radio shack

and here is the link to the video i made of it working:

Nice, I've wondered why the bumper sidemarker doesn't blink.

Question though, how come they blink at different intervals? Or why does it blink in unison with the headlights off and alternately with them on? Not sure if it's the headlights or just the intervals.

P.S. 4dr, check your sig before it gets taken down.

It's gone now and it wasn't me...but it was MUCHO GRANDE

Just resize it within required specs so you don't get caught by NICO sig police..

well the side marker and the front turing signal are on on seperate "hot" or positive wires from the factory...

when you do this mod you connect the negative wire of the side marker to the positive of the front turn signal. now the side marker has two "hot" or positive wires and shares the front turn signals negative.

This causes the "on" pulse of the front signal to turn the sidemarker off... and make it appear that sidmarker is blinking...

when the lights are off, the sidemarkers are off too, but remember we now have two positive sides to the side marker but only the front blinker is "hot" or on when the lights are off... so they blink at the same time.

Nice. I like it.

I was just inside my healights yesterday. I painted them black. I wish I'd seen this before so I could have done the splicing at the same time.

im surprised more people havent dont this mod... as i searched this forum for it and couldnt find it... then once i searched google i found it. I just would of thought the side marker would blink from the factory...

this $6 mod, IMO, is an alternative to getting the mirror blinker lights...

Don't you worry, now that you let the cat out of the bag we'll all be blinking and flashing like an online casino. I saw the vid...

Have you successfully managed to pull anyone over? They must assume you're some kind of undercover cop or something, especially when they go into the alternating sequence. I want.

yeah i was thinking that too... with hazzards on and if you had clear blinker lights... you would look under cover...

i was looking at this and the dude from 6mt kinda confused me...you are going to cut the black wire that is coming from the blinker in the headlights (which also leads to the side marker light) and then add the extension wire to side marker end and lead it to where?

from what i can make of it..all you're doing is cutting the ground wire that both lights use and take the side marker end of the ground wire and connect it to the purple/white (passenger side) and leave the other end connected to nothing (making sure no wire is exposed of course)...right? i just want to make sure i do this right and not trip some circuit board connected to the lighting system of the car or blow any fuses (even though changing fuses isnt hard)

yep that sounds exactly right :yesnod side marker ground is wire tapped to front blinkers hot...

then the side marker and the front blinker will now share a ground... which is what makes the side marker blink instead of being always on...

yeah i was confused at first too... worst case is your side marker doesnt come on at all... cause you are not cuting the wire to the front blinker...

use wire taps and it will be a simple mod, and of course cover the now unused side marker ground.

but will the sidemarker say on as normal if its not blinking?..because it'd be nice to have the marker on while driving and flash when the blinker.
