Sorry I hit reply before I could finish typing. There are people who have bypassed the lock out that prevents you from entering information into the gps while driving (look up NAV HACK) this may allow you to enter phone numbers will the car is in motion.
I have voice command and I use to tell the car what number to call and it works very well.

I do have voice commands but sometimes i still prefer typing.

Then you will need to hack into your system, not easy, void your warranty etc. IMO- not worth the head ache

i thought there is in option that you can enable by connecting it to a computer. (something like vag-com for AUDIs)
they have a lot of features you can enable by vag-com
