Hello, everyone. I decided to visit a Nissan Dealership, where I have previously serviced my 2008 Nissan Rogue S, and inquire about intermittent RPM drops. Lately, my Rogue would drop to 500 RPM while at idle at least twice a day. One of the staff told me not to worry as long as the car corrects itself, which it does. Out of curiosity, I decided to speak with a sales person I know about a 2009 Nissan Rogue S with 28,900 KM for $14,000. No accidents, no dents and if I have to be honest, the car is in better shape than when I bought mine with 57,000 KM for almost $16,000! As always, the old "what do you want for your car?" I figured $11,000 is the best I can get according to Canadian Black Book and I also requested that the price of the 2009 Rogue be dropped to $13,000. "No problem, let me speak with my Manager" and off the sales person went. I eventually test drove the slightly younger Rogue and was surprised at how much heavier the steering was and best of all....NO VIBRATIONS OR RPM DROPS!

I drive back to the dealership and the sales person comes back with what the Manager wants. His offer:

My Car Valuation --> $9,300 (He said my rear and front tires don't match, some paint chipping on the front bumper and a slight dent on the hood will cost $1,000 to repair).

2009 --> $14,000 (He decided not to drop the price).

My Response --> Thank you, but no thank you.

Sometimes I just wish I had enough money to buy a brand new car instead...

You should get more for your car. I just traded in a 2004 Murano SL. Here is everything that needed to be repaired on it:

- Both control arms
- Boots and struts
- Cracked front engine mount
- Driver's seat (broken bracket which rendered the power seat useless)
- Front bumper had lots of paint chips and bug gunk)
- Front grill (whatever the chrome-looking material is covering the grill was peeling/wrinkly)
- Rear high-mounted brake light cracked
- Timing chain would rattle after about 2,000 miles with new oil (probably a broken guide and when the oil became thinner you could hear the chain rattling)
- AND...the CVT was dead...the car wouldn't move at all in drive or reverse...it was literally towed to the dealership.

I got $4,250 for it...Bought the 2013 Rogue SV with SL package for $500 over invoice plus $2,500 in dealer/manufacturer/NMAC rebates.

daltonvol - First of all, Congrats on purchasing a 2013 Nissan Rogue SV!!!! :D I do agree that my 2008 Nissan Rogue S with 68,300 KM is worth more than $9,300. Then again, the dealership needs to sell...so the price will always be low. Thank you for sharing your story and enjoy your new car.
