I don't often use the paddles to shift but recently I did on my trip home from work. About 30 minutes. At home, I back up my driveway (about a 20% incline) into the garage. When I got home this day, I took it out of manual into reverse but when I tried to go up the incline, there was no power. At first I thought I left it in neutral. After changing between reverse and neutral a couple of times, I put it in drive and while it drove, it had almost no power to go. After a short time in drive, the power came back and I was eventually able to backup the driveway. Checked everything I could think of but didn't find any issue.

The next time the car was driven in manual was when I let my daughter drive the car in a parking lot. I put it on 1 and had her only use the brake. After she had driven for about 15 minutes, I had her pull into a parking space so she could try backing out of it. Had her put the car in reverse but the car wouldn't go, even though the RPMs were going up. Again, eventually, the power returned.

Took the car in to Nissan, but they could not find any issue. My plan is to schedule a time when I can drive the car in manual for about 15+ minutes, then call them to have a tech hop in the car with me to verify the issue.

Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Thanks!

I had something similar happen, and posted a fix here. Check your brake lights. Are they working? You wont' have to drive, just make sure power or the engine is on and step on the pedal, if all three lights are out, it's the brake light switch above the brake pedal that's konked out. It's an easy fix. The part number to buy is 25320-AX00C "SW STOP LAMP 99". That switch tells the car that you stepped on the brakes which in turn tells the lights to go on. If the switch is broken, it somehow confuses or thinks the brakes are having issues and robs you power from takeoff when sitting for a minute or longer. Hope this helps.

just had the EXACT problem 30mins ago this morning. very strange. i went away after fulling off finally, and never reoccurred again. after getting to my destination, i check my taillights and they worked fine. we shall see if this problem reoccurs.

actually there's a 08' rogue came to our shop and the complaint is lost power, throttle response is terrible. So we scan it and it came with brake light switch code and for me the code is irrelevant to the complaint, So we attack the brake light switch code and upon investigation the contact point inside the switch is burnt but there's not much damage, So we just scuff the contact point, cleaned, re-install and tested and the vehicle is working fine. Weird!
