I'm interested in buying a coupe with a manual trans. I would just like to know what differences there were, if any between model years. Such as any body style changes or engine/trans changes.

I would get the newest you can afford. '03 and '04's seemed to have more oil blowby issues. 2006+ I believe are the rev-up motors.

Spec sheets and reviews are all stored on http://www.g35club.org/coupe-main.shtml

Thanks for the heads up on the oil blow by issue. About the rev up motor is that referring to the higher rpm range or how the engine revs up when down shifting with the auto trans models?

It was a revised version of the VQ35DE that the G35/350Z came with from 03-05. Higher redline, more high rpm oriented tuning, less low-mid range torque. (still has plenty though) The 06-07 6MT models with the RevUp engine have 298bhp opposed to 280 for the auto's and all pre 06 G Coupes.

I agree that you should probably get the newest one you can afford. That said, the G35/37 is a pretty reliable car. I've owned my 2004 G35 6MT for 18 months (put on ~19,000 miles getting it to 143,000 over that time) and I have had 0 unexpected maintenance. No oil consumption issues, I typically check the oil about every 1,500 and change it between 3,750 and 4,500. It might be 1/12 of a qt lower by that time; the oil level barely changes.

Good luck with the purchase,
Lars
