Location of the top mounting bolt on rear shock

Postby thrj7040 » Tue May 08, 2012 6:32 am

I have a 2006 Altima 4 door Sedan. and am needing to replace the rear shocks, it is not a strut assembly. I am not able to locate the top mounting bolt. Can someone help me with the location and do I have to remove the rear seat to get to them? If anyone already has pictures, that would be helpful. It seems like it should be simple if I can get to the top bolt. Thanks in advance for any help.

Not sure what exactly you're talking about. Can you post some pics of the general area?

No such thing as a 2006 Altima coupe. Either way, have you looked in the trunk beneath the lining?

No access in the trunk. Someone said something about removing from underneath the wheel well

There is only a rear spring and it just sits in there with no mounting bolt? And you do not have a 2006 coupe! Maybe you're talking about a 2006 altima sedan?

If you really want help you should give everybody a lot more accurate information!

That is correct, I do have a sedan! Not sure why I typed coupe. But there is a shock and a spring, they are separate. The Shock bolts somewhere at the top of the wheel well. I think I can remove the entire bracket from inside the wheel well. Looks like there are two nuts to remove on top, and the one bolt on the bottom. I am not replacing the spring at this time.
