I have a 1990 without keyless and I want to get one. Any good ideas for an affordable keyless entry system and what it may cost to have it installed? All suggestions are welcome.

the problem is I don't think the 90 got a lock actuator on the drivers door, so to add keyless to your car would require a custom actuator install, bestbuy or any audio shop can help you out, systems can be $100 and up

What about if both doors unlock when you unlock one door? does that still mean I don't have the necessary actuator?

the passenger door has an actuator, but it is controlled by turning the driers side door key cylindar, but the drivers door doesnt actually have an actuator on it.

f*** bestbuy. dont go there unless you are going to buy a cd . i had them install speakers in my car and they fudged things up bad. definatly check out a custom install shop in your area, to get it done right

yes the 91 is set up the same. when you lock the driver door, the passenger door locks. when you unlock the driver door the passenger door unlocks. If i can remember right, the audio shop put something in the door "i think" to make it an electric door lock. it was like 75$ i think. Dont quote me on that. then they just wired everything up normally. I aslo got remote start put in and they installed something else. I dont really know much about installing car alarms so i brought it somewhere. lol i would have all the wires ****ed up if i tried it.

Ill stick to car audio.

Is this better than the Clifford models that I seem to notice everyone has? I still have the stock alarm. Do you think I need to upgrade, or will stock be sufficient enough?

I'd agree best buy isn't the top pick but there are only a few wires t hoook up so I'd hope they could get that much right, roberts is or was one of the best shops in our area

I'm just doing my whole audio system myself. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to pull all of the speakers out. Then just drop new ones in from Zmaxsystems and you're good to go.

i recommend viper or clifford (same company makes both). can add on tons of extras things like a button 2 roll up windows, remote start, has starter kill, new ones can reach your car from up 2 a mile away, and so on. i heard the news 1s are 500$ including installation.

when i got mine (now the older model) for about 130$ off a private seller and had it installed for about 150$.

BestBuy is a ****ing joke. my friend works there as the lead technician for the shop and he was off the other day and had to come in because the other techs ****ed this jeep up. they had stuff all wired wrong. lights wouldnt work, some electronics didnt work. so he had to come in and fix everything.

brg it to an actual audio/alarm shop to get the alarm installed.

Now wireing audio systems is easy. i usually take my time when doing this so i cant put a time on how long it takes. I also strip the car to run all my wires properly and neat.

Im currently working on a $5000 system with custom inclosures in the doors and behind the seats. also custom enclosure in the spare tire area with a jl 8" sub. Im going all out. going to be one of the best systems ive done.

... i knida is but not really.

I gave my opinion about bestbuy and where to actually bring you car to get stuff installed. I gave my input on how long it takes to install your own stuff and how hard it is. Then i told him why i take my time since im installing such a huge system and everything needs to be done right.

I mean, the time it take to do something properly differs from person to person, depending on how well you want something wired up.

Most alarms come with install instructions..

I've never had anythign installed at bestbuy, but I had froneds go to circuit city back int he day, not a real pro shop but for a simple alarm install I'd think they can handle it, honestly I'd think you could train a chimp to do that job, but some people simply lack the skills
