Well I was hoping to drive my RB20-powered '89 hatch around a couple nights back so I bled the clutch with the help of a local NICO member because I myself had no idea what to do. When we were done, the pedal was extremely hard to push down and didn't even pop back up all the way. They said I could fix this with just adjusting the pedal so I wasn't too worried.

So I started up the car, used all my strength to push this freakin' beast of a clutch pedal and attempted to put it in gear. No go. So I let off and pumped the clutch a few times and tried again, and pushed pretty damn hard. I heard a pop and the clutch no longer had resistance. The rubber boot on the slave cylinder was now filled with clutch fluid.

That was the stock one that came with the Skyline clip so I figured it may have just been old and abused, so I replaced with a known-to-be-in-good-working-order KA slave cylinder. Same thing. Rubber boot = filled and clutch pedal = limp.

Now when I was under the car adjusting the bleeder valve and my firned was pumping the pedal, I could see the slave cylinder extending to what looked like it's full extent and moving the clutch fork and all, so I know the thing's working, I just don't know why my clutch isn't disengaging.

I did grease up the transmission parts before re-installation of the transmission and even checked to make sure the throw-out bearing moved freely and all that jazz, but I can't think of anything else that could be casuing the problem...

:help

Edit: In case there's any question, I drive a 240SX with an engine from a Skyline. :)

sounds like your fux0r3d :D

j/p

to me, it sounds like the TO bearing is binding. Take it out and reinstall it on the input shaft to make sure it's not ****ed in some fashion.

Also, make sure that the clutch fork didn't pop off the pivot (that would explain why it was moving)

I knew it would come to that BS. I really wanted to avoid taking the transmission back off cuz I have no idea how I'm gunna do it single-handedly...oh well. Guess I just have to wait like another week to drive the damn thing. :(

hmmm...you have the same symptoms i had when i replaced my clutch by myself @ 3 am. it was hard as hell to push in. after driving like that for a day and a half, my clutch pedal gave one final POP. i removed my transmission to see what the heck was going on...that's when i discovered that i had put my throw out bearing on backwards.

Ha, interesting you mention that...Us RB guys use NA 300ZX clutch discs as replacements which match up perfectly, but the TO bearing was a bit different than the R32 one. I purposely saved the R32 one just in case this happened but people said that they've used the Z32 ones and it funtions normally...if only it wasn't a billion freaking degrees and a 130% humidty today, I might do something about it. :)

you really want to find out definitively if its in the clutch release mechanism/hydraulics or in the clutch mechanical sys. it sounds like its in the clutch mechanical sys. i have seen clutch disks get stuck to the flywheel before. that sucks. happens mostly on trucks that go through deep water. those clutch forks can be really funny too. if you decide to pull the trans...lay under the car(car jacked way up) with everything disconnected. and wrap your legs around the trans. yes your family jewels will be real cozy with the trans. then squeeze with your knees like you are giving birth. pull hard. when it gets really heavy, roll over and breathe in deep. when you go to put it in, just get some friends and a floor jack. i did a clutch on a z32tt that way and it hurt. it made me some money though.
