You shouldn't have to adjust anything. It uses hydraulic lifters with solid shims that set the clearance. If for some reason you need to adjust it, I hate to be the one to tell you, but those shims are close to $10 a piece after tax. That can be expensive depending on how many you need. The KA24E needs to have the valve lash adjusted, but not the DE.

Go to http://carfiche.com/manuals021/cars/ and download the FSM. You may have to check back a couple of times before the one you need is available for download, but they circulate about once an hour. The FSM will tell you most of what you need to know.

ka24e uses hydraulic lifters also so no adjusting there same with the de motor unless you have a shim failure.

WRONG, it's the other way around. The KA24E SOHC uses hydraulic lifters; no other adjustment. The KA24DE DOHC uses solid lifters with replaceable shims for setting the valve stem clearance.

You can get shims from Courtesy Parts http://www.courtesyparts.com/index.html cheaper then most Nissan dealers.

rogoman is correct, the sohc has hydraulic adjusters and requires no adjustment, while the dohc uses solid shims that can be replaced but nissan usually dosnt recommend it, unless you have excessive valve train noise. they should normally last the life of the engine.
