So......I needed access to the underside of the car in order to install a new lower tray. When working at Mike's (RED_DET), he has a set of Race Ramps that will raise the vehicle enough for a floor jack. I don't have those. So, I tried making some ramps with wood and it still didn't work.

Dammit, this POS is NOT going to get the best of me.....and it didn't. Here's how I did it

Image

#1 is the wood ramps that did not work. 3 layers of 3/8" wood. Jack still would not fit

#2 Factory jack was put into play to raise the vehicle. Spin spin spin...finally, the jack could fit

#3 Medium-sized floor jack that I have would finally fit under the car. Took a while to jack it up and I had to go all the way

#4 Jack stands

Hey, it worked :dblthumb:

Been there lol.

I used my civic's jack at one wheel at a time. I then dead lifted the wheel and had my friend slide about 8 2.5 inch thick woods planks underneath the wheel.

Repeat 3 times.

Nala is like NICO's own Norm Abrams when it comes to working with wood (mind out of the gutter...I was talking about the snowplow) - maybe he's got some pointers.

I think that's the first time I saw pics of your G. Nice! :yesnod

Funny, a few years ago I thought I would get smart and purchase a pair of car ramps. Thus far they have only worked on the back of one car, my old Maxima (the front would not work). I don't think they would work with the stock G35 sedan and I know there's no way my car would be able to use them.

^Lol very true.

Yeah thats probly the worst thing about having a lowered car. It sucks even more when it wont fit on ramps if you try and tow it either. Been there.. in the rain.. it sucks.

Not sure exactly what ground clearance you have to work with. This may work, Its a craftsman jack thats built with a low profile design. Check the link. If you have 3.3 inches between the ground and frame/pinchweld it may work. And save you the time consuming labor of cranking your OEM emergency jack and the danger of messing with wooden ramps. With my 2 sets of rims and 12 tires I love my jack and the time it saves me when rotating.

The G looks great BTW and it sits well judging by that pic you posted.

No, not at all. You need more fail on your résumé, and a few years of practical experience on top of that. ;)

Request a flatbed while you're on the phone with the towing company, you save time for the both of you. I've seen some pretty low rides on flatbeds in my area lately...must be something in the fuel supply.

I've only had issues with the crappy lower engine cover scraping on speed bumps and such. That should be fixed now that this has been installed

Low profile jack won't work as the center jack point is too far under the car for the main portion of the jack to fit. Ramps is the only solution.

I always ask for flatbeds, but I think that lowered cars can have problems with flatbeds too ... the car has to be winched onto the flatbed and this can damage the bottom of the front air-dam (below the grill).

Lowering is always fraught with all kinds of problems! :frown:

My car pushes my ramp around because my bumper hits the ramp before the wheel.
I have to reverse my car into the garage, put my ramps on the sloped driveway, then drive onto them.
I still push them forward a bit, but manage to get on them.

My rails are about 3 inches off the ground and have yet to meet anything that hit it.

I have plenty of room under my car for a normal jack and I've bumped my exhaust and something else on an epically huge speed bump..

I scrape my exhaust on almost all speedbumps. :(
I need to modify this thing so it sits higher.

With the old H-Techs I have scrapped my exhaust on speed bumps when others are in the car. I doubt I'll have the problem with the coilovers and the fact the car is a tad higher

When I had that problem, I took some extra 2x4s I had lying around and set them between a wall and the ramps.

I've always had this problem... even when driving the car up onto 2x4s before driving up onto the ramp.
