So my girlfriends 2003 G35 sedan had a serious loss of power when I was driving it yesterday. It felt like the timing was off the way it was bucking and slowly gaining speed. The check engine light finally came on so I checked the code with my code reader. The code was a P0021 (camshaft timing over advanced). After looking up a couple sights people say it is the (ivt, vvt, vct) solenoid is bad or dirty causing to advance the intake timing. I removed the solenoid and cleaned out the holes and the poppet. There was a little foreign debris but not nothing to be concerned about. I removed the solenoid itself from the housing and also tested it with my power probe it works fine.

So the fun part I reinstalled the solenoid and plugged in the connector and fired up the car. At first it had to crank for a second which was odd because it had started fine each time since it threw the code but when it's running it now sounds horrible, sounds like all the intake valves are hitting the Pistons or the chain has come off and the end of it is bieng whipped around under the cover. Only coming from right around the area of the actuator. I need help. What happened when I cleaned the actuator. Should swap one from the passenger side to see if the noise follows the part ect?

Any knowledge on this is greatly appreciated.

Car is a 2003 G35 auto sedan completely stock with 167k
