I'm thinking of going with ITB's for my CA18DET...Would that be a good thing or not?

Is there any kits for Individual Throttle Bodies on a CA18DET?

that would be awesome to have. i did some research on it since i was going to do the same thing and it would help with throttle response but on a turbo car the gains are not as much as you would think. you can get the same throttle response on a 60-90mm throttle body. (depending on your mods to the head) there was a german(?) site that had a custom cnc setup but it just looked like it would cost as much as if it was made out of gold. if you do plan on doing it make one like the nismo one but make the runners long to get some extra torque out of it. personally i wanted 8 throttle bodies. i don't like the 1-8-4-head design. the plenum i am making is 1-8-head. less restriction. but good luck and post up anything if you get closer to it

I was the one who posted those pics. I have discussed purchasing parts from the guy but he said his time alone and the money for the supplies wouldn't be worth it too anyone to buy or for him to even remake them. Very nice stuff but again I have asked and he won't reproduce anything that he has made.

you say wouldn't be worth it, too expensive.

how expensive?and would he part with diagrams of the parts? (i have a mad scientist machine guy who can do most anything freehand, but diagrams would be great)

in fact, i dont know why i didnt think of it before - ill give him a call and drop off a butterfly unit and the GSXR ITBs i have. But i wont drop it off until after i get some more stuff done on my car, when i will have other things for him to build me (thinking he can make my 4 lug hubs 5 luggers.... for way less than new 5 lugs will cost... along with putting a tooth wheel on the aluminum crank pulley and a couple other tricky tricks i have lined up

CJ

EDIT> btw, have any more up close pics from other angles? more pics in general

That is the closest an engine has ever gotten to looking like a naked chick.

Yes tyrannix way too expensive. Just to give you an idea of what things cost here in Germany a "CA HEAD" rebuild was quoted to me at 1600 euros. This wasn't even replacing all the valves. That at the current exchange rate is close to 2000 dollars.

He has already said he won't reproduce the ITBS or the Pullies. So I highly doubt any diagrams will be shared.

I hate him. I fully understand his reasoning and respect him for it but at the same time I hate him.

That was so beautiful that I had to chime-in. I would open-up the pocket for a set-up like that, but then again, with the amount of money I've already spent on high performance stuff, my woman will be giving that nasty look that oriental women and women in general are so capable of pefecting when you've so totally pissed them off .

wonder if that thing ever got finished, and what it was put into, and what it sounds like, and what kind of numbers it makes, and at what boost etc etc.......?

That engine is beautiful! I'd like to see more of it. Props to the builder(s) and hopefully one day we'll have parts like that on our own engines.

It is still a work in progress. He has custom made a coil pack cover and what looks like to be some sort of water cooled heat sinks for the coil packs (not really sure though).

Whoever found those pics, on whatever forum that guy frequents, should contact him with an invite to this thread. Perhaps he'd be willing to shed a little light on this ridiculously beutiful build.

That motor deserves its own religion. Seriously. I now know for a fact (like I didn't before, lol) that there is a God because a motor like that exists in the world.

I am the one who found the pics and decided to share with the NICO guys. I believe he runs his own business building things for VWs. Plus the guy is GERMAN!!!! When I get internet hooked up to the new house I will have my wife translate some of the stuff for everybody of course after I ask him if it is okay.

I will ask him if it is okay to post some more pics. I don't want to post too much of his work up without asking him first as I believe his work deserves him that courtesy.
