Is this an ok deal?

I stumbled onto a car on Craigs List and at first I didn't give it much thought because it isn't running, but I was going back through Craigs List the other day and realized that this wouldn't be so bad. I have about $2000 to spend on the car and since the guy wants $1250, I was thinking about offering $1000 for it and fixing it with the money I have left over. My plan was to get the KA24E that's in the car running again and drive that around for a while. In the mean time save up some money to rebuild the KA24DE that comes with it and throw that in once its built up a little. Does this sound logical and is $1000 to little for this? Thanks!
