Hello everyone, this forum has helped me so much with my wife's car, She has a 06 M35x with 160k right now I've been reading on here about these cars going into limp mode when the cam shafts sensors go bad, my check engine light has not come on as well as no other lights, I just wanted to know, based off the mileage, would it be a good idea to change the sensors (more of preventive maintenance) even though I haven't notice any of the symptoms of these sensors failing, My wife drive on the highway a lot, and I wouldn't want the car going into limp mode on the highway, Thanks guys for all the important information that you guys give on here, it's greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site.

If you want to do preventative maintenance...I'd take them out and clean them. They are usually covered in a thin layer of metal shavings. Otherwise, I wouldn't change them until they fail.
