Interior & Exterior Carbon Fiber Wrap :)

So i got busy today! I got some carbon fiber wrap from http://www.rvinyl.com and it worked out great. My tinted windows that i did a few months ago, i also did myself with this company's products. They also work out great, and dont fuss. Plenty of products out there are to thick and dont bend, melt, or ply right. RVinyl's always are easy on, and go. No fuss.

Anyone who follows me on here, knows i hate cheezy stuff. But this turned out awesome! Its very subtle, even more than the stock silver, but it catches light and your eye in a really sporty way. This R24 wrap film is a textured Carbon Fiber vinyl, it has an embossed 3D Carbon Fiber Twill Weave that you can see and feel.

to do the bezels around the A/C knobs it will require you take apart the whole unit.
Image

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
if your wondering how to make it crease free: cut the slits, quickly heat gun it, and stretch.

I really like the write-up and the work itself, good job!

I see this as being a great solution for restoring scratched/damaged trim by just wrapping it. Rather than attempting a fill and paint the wrapping solution seems to be a really good idea.

absolutely. a lot of my trim was scratched already from dog claws, etc - and wrapping it was a great idea. plus the gray trim was kinda cheesy, while this added a lot of sporty/edgy character to the interior.

That looks really friggin good man, I am impressed. So much so that I am thinking about copying you and doing that grille piece .

Quick question, did you just buy a quantity of 1 of the R24 kits for like $19.99 or whatever? Or did all the stuff you did require you to get more than 1?

I think you should remove the wrapping on the shicfter. on that picture it looks so crowded. other than that they look beautiful. I wonder what will happen under sun? will it bubble or expand?

I got my R24 in the mail today. Went ahead and did the whole roll!

I took your lead on the shifter trim piece and on the door handle/pull trim. I also did the trim piece around the cupholders, the trim piece around the ignition switch, all four door sill trim pieces and the stock airbox cover.

Basically same as yours. Turned out great. If I get a chance to grab some more pics I will. I was a little bit upset that after working on some of the pieces I notice there are creases in them now. I may take them back off tomorrow after letting them sit overnight. Everything turned out great except for the shifter trim surround...it was perfect when I installed it and then it started to show a few minor creases.

Yeah I think between those and the door handle trim piece.....they turned out the best. The door sill trim was probably the easiest because it is almost all the same shape/depth/etc....

I haven't went out and looked at the car yet this morning. I am curious if anything peeled up or bubbled or anything.

the key is to NOT stretch any of the film that will wrapped under your piece. you want that part of the wrap to as stress free as possible. you can stretch the top as much as you want all the way to the edge... but that underlying stuff needs to be firmly wrapped under, heated to activate the glue and firmly squeezed one last time.

the creases, folds, etc - often are fixed simply by applying heat to it. it causes the film to shrink and take out any excess the fold took on.
this video taught me that principal, and it also taught me how to do the shift gate bezel

Bold choice! I'm not familiar with that tartan pattern. Is that from Martha Stewart's Clan?

My bad. Despite popular myth not all FOD's are fashionistas. I'm not keen on putting a noose around my neck neither.

the bezel around the shifter pops up by it self via a thin screw driver. just slip a flat head under it and gently pry upwards.

the gear knob trim pieces also pry off via a small flat head screw driver. (warning, these will be a HUGE PITA to do. the curves are so round that it will come up slightly ribbed around the edges)

the bezels around the a/c controls can only be removed if you take the whole control unit apart.

the handles on the door also come off via a small flat head screw driver, gently prying upwards. just do it form the bottom of the trim. there is a small notch on the bottom.

the door window switch bezel comes off just as the rest. gently from the bottom(rearward most area) pry upwards. you will see the bezel is clipped to the master switch.

and yes, that should be enough vinyl film for you.
