It looks like I may be going with cardon fiber

How hard is it to do the center contol panel?

besides the center control, radio & shift panel are you removing all other parts in order to rap them?

Looking at youtube doors and dash panels are done without taking the parts out.

Have you seen this yet?

Expensive but really nice looking.

I took the piece off to wrap the vinyl around so it had a better surface to adhere to.

My first attempt (spare piece)

I did see those but they are all flat, no high gloss

WOW that looks hard

any way of doing that pc without taking it apart?

Also what vinyl did you buy?

I heard that you could clear over the vinyl to get a high gloss finish.

the spare piece was done with a 1'x4' sheet I got from ebay for $5 (China) and the one on my car right now is 3M brand I order from somewhere in the states, I think NJ and it costed me about $35 for 1'x6'

The first piece has no air release channel but the 3M one does, so no air bubbles. There could be a better way of doing this IDK since this was the first time using this stuff.

Yes, removed all of the buttons

I'll try to get you a pic when I get out of work tomorrow of all of the buttons out so you can get an idea of how it is removed

Thanks that would help

but the more I search the more I see people doing it without removing any parts.

I'm sure it's best to remove our center control, radio & shift panels (hardest parts) but I think all the rest of the parts don't have to be removed. This would save alot of time by not removing doors panels or dash trim and then re-installing them..

You could probably do the whole car without having to remove most of the trim but I prefer to because I wanted to hide my jaggy cuts :gapteeth:

Sorry for the low light pics (wish I owned a lamp)

The hardest one to pop out was the temp rocker switch. (picture below) It's held down by the clips in the middle.

Image

These are the tools I used. The bigger screwdriver is used to put pressure on the buttons from behind and the small flat head screwdriver is then used to release the clips that holds the buttons in.

I just followed the guide lines I found on minkara and this is what I found.

Outer Diameter = 23mm.....I think I'd go a mil or two bigger and still be able to see the back lighting behind the knob.

Length = 15...................I went with 17mm and as you can see from the pics it sticks out more than the stock rubber/plastic ones.

Shaft Diameter = ???.........The one I got was 6mm but that is a little too lose for me so I hot glued it on. Maybe a 5mm shaft might work better.

The mod you need to do to make the knob work like the oem ones is you need to stuff the inside of the shaft of the volume knob with something (I used a piece of fake exterior chrome moulding that I cut to fit) so you can still use the button part of the volume knob since the shaft is the length of the knob.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/6mm-15-64-Shaft ... 51a40269bf

It's not bad looking for being a $3 mod but would rather have a more smoother feeling knob then this sharp one so let me know if you can find a better knob using that guide line.

The dash is only that colour under low incandescent lighting but I do wish the wood trim was a little darker.

If you can pay $300 for someone else to do it then go for it but I'm cheap :gapteeth: I'd rather save me the $240 and do it my self.

:dblthumb: looks clean :dblthumb:

Was that MP3 logo removable?

Never has a reason to take the radio panel out yet but will do when I find a spare cheap enough to figure out how I want to integrate an Ipad in there and maybe then I might think of doing the entire trim in the car in carbon like yours but include the cup holder as well.

Are you thinking of doing the rest of the car in brush aluminum?

Probably would look good in your silver car.

I think that MP3 logo isnt removable, i just cut around it. I already did my interior with brushed aluminium, I only had to do the control panel.

Damn! I really like that. I really wish could change my seats to black so I would have more colours to choose from then trying to find something that would match nicely with my orange seats.

I did the climate seat switches also.

Oh yeah. I remember why mine doesn't, I have the light switch dimmed to the lowest setting so all I see is the dot part.
