talked to my insurance comp the other day and they told me that they will not insure a skyline because it does not have a 17 digit vin. when i told them it only had 10 digit vin they said it was most likely that it did not pass emmisions when it came to the states. i was wondering if all skylines only had a 10 digit vin like ive seen. and is there any insurance place that i could talk to that would allow me to get one

USAA, if you're eligible.

I read somewhere that state farm will insure it. Can't hurt to call around.

I've got USAA for insurance on my Skyline. I believe Amica and Travelers will also insure them. When I was looking a few years ago they provided me with quotes.

Also, the only ones that might have 17 digit VINs would be from Canada, or a Nissanie which I would steer clear of. Even my MotoRex Skyline has a 10 digit VIN.

Canadian Skylines will not have a 17 digit VIN... All the ones here will still have their chassis numbers which are not 17 digits.

My Skyline Still Has it's Original japanese VIN. What they had made me do was carbon copy the plate and the vin etched on the firewall then faxed it to my insurance company. And like turbotank said as long as they are FEDERALLY legal you should have no problem. ;)

My R34 Is Legally registered And Insured through State Farm. And has been for the last 6 years. It can be done. It can just get a bit pricey.

i had my r33 insured threw state farm, they did with no issue. but when i asked about full coverage they said i needed p[aper work to show. i needed to prove that they can get parts and such if something was to happen.
