Hey everyone, I haven't posted in a long time but recently I was shopping around on Amazon for NISMO license plate brackets and I came across some folks over on the 370z and G37 boards who had swapped out their start buttons for the red GTR start/stop button. Since the button is the same across the board for Nissan, I have ordered one and will update this thread with installation pics. From what I've seen, it is a relatively small and cheap mod, but seems to make quite a difference in the interior. Who doesn't want a red start button!?

here is the original post http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-do-y ... p-out.html

I bought my stuff from "the Nismo shop" on Amazon.

Peace out folks.

BTW if anyone of you already knew this well whatever, I just stumbled upon it now, plus I searched the forum and didn't seem to find anyone on the Altima forum who had posted about this.

As promised! Took me 5 minutes to install this, I gotta say this was by far the easiest, fastest custom mod ever not to mention quite satisfying! :woot:

Let me know what you guys think!

Thank you West Covina Nissan aka The Nismo Shop for your quick shipping and excellent service!

They didn't have any Brushed Steel NISMO license plate brackets anymore and so they happily swapped with the Chrome stainless steel ones at no extra charge!

Nice!! Which interior parts are necessary to remove to install the button?

This winter snowstorm in the midwest has my button stuck in Oklahoma City. :tisk:

Only requires a small screw driver to get behind the Chrome shroud on the button. Just pop it out.. Its held in with two tabs...pull out the button, do not yank! Remove the chrome shroud via two indented tabs on the sides.
Take out the power/ignition wire via a tab at the bottom.

Voioa.

UPS should be delivering my button tomorrow hopefully. Tried to order it at Nissan but they were not a "Certified GTR Dealer" so they couldn't order it. The parts guys was like "Yeah that's pretty gay" haha.

Got mine in this past weekend and installed under 5 minutes. I think it looks way better than the white OEM one.

I even showed my wife the new start button and she asked me what's the difference. I said one is red and one was white. She then turned around and :slap: me. :chuckle: Oh the things we go through for our cars.

hahaha.. I like the fact that you can swap out the buttons but i kinds like the white one with the red light coming through it, this one the red is opaque right? I do like red on my car though... choices choices...

@ Dangeris, lol thats funny man because I went through a similar thing. I was hoping my girl would notice the difference as she's the only other person who most often rides in my car, but I wasn't counting on it; but I pointed it out one day and said did you notice the new button? She's like ohhhh niceeee....and I'm like it's from the GT-R.....she gave me a smirk and looked at her and went :naughty: . She asked how much it was and I was like $30 bucks...ahhh $30 on a button?.... lol....ahhh yes.

@ Greatdane, yes the red on the button is opaque, but IMO this button suits the interior a million times better because the lettering is the exact same orange/amber as the interior lights. I always admire how cool it looks during the day because the red goes with my illuminated kickplates that have "NISSAN" in red, and then at night the amber/orange glow of the start/stop lettering is exactly the same as the lettering on all the other buttons on the dash, radio, etc. so it makes the interior a bit more refined, rather than this big old orange glowing button. :dblthumb: ....in the words of Borat - very naaiiceee i Laikkeeee...yes!

An easier way to get in behind the silver ring without scratching it is using a credit card. I used my boat license haha. Went all the way around and it popped out perfectly. Install takes less than 5 minutes honestly. Woot!

Installed mine today too. No point in taking pics since everyone else has them posted and then on top of that the front of my car is still wrecked and waiting for parts to come in. So for now I can be happy my start button is red. LOL

The metal ring around the start button, just pry at it (i shoved a credit card behind it), pops it out. Then you just disconnect the cable, and put the new one in. Instructions are also mentioned at the start of the thread.

Two of your friends are wrong. Altimas 2007 - 2011 have the same start button. The GTR start button will fit all of these models regardless of packages/engine size etc.
