Just wanted to say, I almost pissed my pants doing this, but it came out PERFECT.

If anyone is planning on doing this, make sure you have a metal file that you can fit in the holes to deburr, and also have some touch up paint to paint the exposed metal to avoid rust in the future.

And this picture before I installed the spoiler that I took a couple of weeks ago. Thought it came out splendid!

Ow, big holes. Hope you had Huggies...

Looks like it was an OEM install. Great job!!

Don't forget to change them-you'll get a rash-use Desitin...

That looks brilliant! Well done TXT! Aside from Mayback and Bentley, I firmly believe Infiniti cars have the best pigment, tint, depth, and hue of silvers, greys, and black. Yours is a perfect example.

Gotta do mine soon. I was thinking of cutting off the studs for the holes and 3M'ing the spoiler to the car instead.

I can see why you would want to do that. Not sure where you got your spoiler, but if its OEM, then I would say drill the holes because the spoiler is on the heavier side. Maybe an ebay style or OEM style spoiler will be lighter and 3m Double sided tape might suffice. You say you want to cut off the studs so you might have the OEM spoiler.

I'll never be taking off the spoiler again so the holes were a no brainer for me. I suggest you do drill the holes, its actually easier than it looks. Once you start doing it, its very easy! I suggest a second person to lay down the template since it comes rolled up and is very difficult to lay down by yourself; I had a 2nd pair of hands for that part.

Yeah, I have the OEM spoiler. It's not an issue if I don't like it and want to remove...I just feel bad drilling lol.

I was losing sleep this whole week knowing what I was going to do this afternoon. Well, if you decide to go that route tell us how you did it, and how it holds up in the long run!

Dragging up an old post. I ordered a wing and had a question on the install. How do you know how far away from the back edge of the trunk to place the template. It has to be just right otherwise the radius on the wing won't match the trunk. Does the wing come with measurements?

Here I am. The OP. I've since moved on from the M45 (not by choice) but I got an email notification that this thread was revived.

I'm assuming that you know for sure you got a wing that involves drilling. Most of the time this happens with the OEM spoiler.

Anyway, the paper that you use to place on the trunk is very simple to follow. The template will go all the way up to the very corner of the trunk and this is pretty much how you know how far back to drill the holes. The pics I have dont show it but see attached pic. once you place the template to the very corner and also the edge of the trunk you should be ok. JUST BE SURE TO KEEP THE TEMPLATE FLAT AS YOU TAPE. If the template is not flat, it wont be right.

I've moved on because I moved back to Jersey and I needed AWD. Plus the roads were s*** and my car was dropped.

Got a FX35 for 3 years, then a Grand cherokee 5.7 Hemi V8 that I've owned now for a little less than a year.

Thanks for the reply and extra photo. It should be the oem wing as I bought it from Grubbs Infiniti. I figure one way or another I'll get the template to work

That Grand Cherokee is sexy!! And thankfully, my spoiler came on the car when I bought it; or I would never have drilled!
