Hello all, looking to get a little insight on this company, if anyone has ever dealt with them and if the prices seem legit for the shipping/fees/inspection.

Here is the car: https://www.tradecarview.com/used_car/n ... /15053860/
I know it is a '91, so I would have to wait for 2016 for it to be legal, But I am fine with that.

Here is the information I have received back from them regarding the shipping/fees/etc:

"AVIX Co.Ltd
Dear Sir/Madam ,

Thank you for your inquiry.

OUR BEST PRICE FOR THIS UNIT:

CIF PRICE: JAPAN → New York : USD 6331 (Includes Inspection, Marine Insurance fee and Shipping Costs)
PayTrade Service Charge: USD 297
TOTAL PRICE (with PayTrade): USD 6628

I will send you a PROFORMA INVOICE immediately, If you accept the offered price.
Terms of Payment - 100% paid in TT remittance.

Best Regards,

Sales team"

I chose NY because I am originally from Elmira, NY and it wouldn't be anything for a family member to go pick it up for me. Or would I have to be there in person? Any way I could get a family members name put on it for the port to release the car to them?

Any and all information would be helpful. I am just recently starting to looking into this importing stuff seeing as how one of my dream cars are now legal.

Uh, International Vehicle Importers (importavehicle.com) will source, do all necessary paperwork, pay all fees, and ship an R32 here in the States for $5500. That's Sean Morris' company.

That seems legit. I have been doing researches and getting quotes for a while, and the ro/ro shipping is about $1000 to either coast and $1300 to the middle, which is us here in TX. The insurance depends on the deductible and ranges from .05% to 1.50% of the value. Paperwork is cheap for us in TX at $350 flat rate. Add 2.5% import duty and you should be able to figure out the rough final cost.

Wait, we don't have to pay 6.25% sales tax here in TX to register our Skylines? That 2.5% CBP duties is enough? If so, that would save me an easy $1000+

Hmmm good catch, I didn't think about the 6.25% state tax. I just check DMV's website, it's VERY UNCLEAR...

Let me email my shipping agent...

I'm guessing since the CBP duties are federal, and the sales tax is state dependent, that you will still have to pay your state in order register your car in that state. For me, a cool 9% in Tennessee.

Yeah, that's what I figured so I'd already budgeted for the state sales tax. Man, 9% tax on a vehicle in TN? That's brutal.
