I traced the fuel lines and cannot find the fuel filter. I called Nissan and they stated it was inside the fuel tank and I can access it under the rear seat. Pulled the rear seat and got inside the gas tank, but it was not there either, only the fuel pump. From the looks of the new filter, it is definitely an in-line filter. Does anyone have a clue where it is? Thanks

The fuel filter attaches to the intake on the fuel pump. It looks like a little rectangular mesh sock (on a plastic frame to hold it's shape).If it wasn't attached to the bottom of the fuel pump when you took that out, it may have fallen into the fuel tank. I doubt it will cause any problems if it has, but I'd replace it ASAP.

That is it? I did see that. I had to remove a part of the casing of the fuel pump to get to that. I cleaned it off as it had some debris on it. I figured that was just the filter for the fuel pump. Is that the only fuel filter? I ask this because the fuel filter I was given at the auto part store was an inline filter that looks like a typical fuel filter. Thanks for the quick response.

The one at the back is the strainer for the fuel pump. The fuel filter is located in the engine compartment just in front of the driver's side firewall, below the brake booster. It is an in-line filter
