Greetings,

I'm hoping someone can help me figure out my start-up issue. Occasionally, and by occasionally I mean once every month or so, my car will start-up and die immediately. It will happen until I floor the accelerator, then the issue goes away. I live in Hawaii so it's neither hot nor cold here. It's a 2009 model bone stock. I really don't think it's a climate issue. Battery is 3 months old... I've heard people say maybe a dirty throttle body? I'm not by any means mechanically inclined, so please keep your answers as we Marines say Barney style!

Sounds like something is off with the alternator...id get it checked. The problem seems electrical than mechanical

An automobile engine needs three items in order to run.

1-Air
2-fuel
3-spark

I think you can rule out number 1 and probably #3

If I had to make an educated guess I think it might be number 2

Low fuel pressure, partially clogged fuel filter, weak fuel pump.

Follow the troubleshooting steps in the FSM

You may need the assistance of a qualified/certified dealer tech to pin point the trouble

Good luck

Checking volts at the battery when the car is running will usually tell you quickly if the alternator is bad.

Hook up a fuel pressure gauge going into the fuel rail if you can.

When do you floor the pedal - while cranking, or after it stalls and before trying to start it again?

telcoman - add to your list #4 - compression.

Happened to me 2 days after I got the car from the dealership. And they said it was due to the fuel grade.Their answer was "car was filled up with Regular gasoline instead of Premium or in same grade level and since it has been roughly 2 days of me owning a car, a dealership must've put regular gasoine upon delivery."
Well, this was my case.

I've driven my two Infiniti's over 200k miles using regular and never had a problem.

I usually purchase all my gasoline here

My current 2012 G37S has never seen a drop of anything other than regular 87 octane and it runs like new
