Infiniti G20 vs Nissan Sentra

Are their any significant differences between an Infiniti g20 and Nissan Sentra (particularly the mid to late 1990s models)?

The two cars are essentially clones of each other, as I understand.

Would there be any difference between them in terms of repair and maintenance costs, for example?

While they're not actually clones, they do share engines and have enough mechanical equipment similarities to where they are pretty related.

As such, the maintenance costs are nearly identical.

So all things being equal, if given a choice between a Nissan Sentra and Infiniti g20, would it be better take the Infiniti?

In addition to the common engine, do they share the same transmission, suspension, electrical systems?

Well, each car has its own problems to look out for even though they may be nearly identical. With that said, I'd look into reports of these problems just to be sure.

But..hell, I'd take the G20. Looks so much better than the Sentra.

This specialist forum should be careful not to perpetrate a common misconception.

The 2 cars may be a similar physical size (G20 slightly longer wheelbase and overall length, and a bit heavier), but the G20 was made in Japan, the Sentra in the U.S. (for a time) & Mexico.

Two different platforms (P10/11 vs. B13/14) with different front and rear suspension.

If the term "clone" is to be used, the only true statement was that the G20 was a re-badged version of a particular model of the Nissan Primera, built at that time in N.E. England.

Repair costs would generally be higher for the G20 because of more limited availability of either new or used parts other than engine components, and the fact that it has more standard power accessories.

Maintenance costs might be fairly similar, other than for things like rear brake discs, etc.

Neither of the two members who posted insinuated that they actually are clones.

Regardless, costs are about the same for common failure items. The G20 was made for long enough in the same form (91-96) that parts availability is hardly an issue any more than any other 13+ year old car.

Of the two, I'd lean towards a G if they were in similar condition. It's an overall "nicer" car, if you will, and the price difference at this point isn't large enough for it to really matter.

id take the sentra. the local pullapart has over 2 dozens of the b13 shells i rarely find a p10 there. plus its lighter.

maintenance wise almost identical, repair or replacement wise the G is significantly higher, as a G owner the ride quality of the infiniti isnt good enough to choose over the the sentra, depending on what your looking for in the car, other than the engine, even though the sentra came with a number of different engines the infiniti only came with an sr20 the highest output engine used in either, they are completely different, the infiniti comes with some better quality parts stock, suspension and brake wise, and the interior is always going to be more comfortable, but if youre looking for building a quick car, hands down go for a b13 and do a sr20det swap

I have a G20 1991 model with 85 ,000 original miles .

Ive had it since new and its never really given me any problems .

the radio ( cassette) doesnt work but who plays them nowadays ?

I replaced all the window gears, and front and rear strutts last year had a full paint job done in 2006 , there does,nt seem to be any visable signs of rust anywhere .

As they are a little cracked i have fitted the leather seats with lambswool removeable covers .

My wife had a sentra 1998 as i saw it there was the differances noted above anti lock brakes were not available on the sentra .

love my Infiniti and keep it garaged and serviced regularly .

Wow, a 91 G20 with only 85,000 miles and I thought my 92 B-13 had low miles. Pease Out Man!
