Details are still sketchy, and the pics are simply leaked CAD renderings, but could this be the next supercar from Nissan?

Infiniti Emerg-E Concept

Let the speculation begin!

Not feeling the styling, but those are really raw renderings so I guess we will have to wait. I would prefer Nissan concentrate on an affordable RWD platform and an entry-level affordable EV instead of these pie in the sky projects. Considering the state of world economies they are targeting a market that is not there.

Agreed.
I'd consider buying a Leaf as I work quite close to home, but not for the RRP of $51,500.
As for the affordable RWD platform, the Toyota GT86/ Subaru BRZ has made me consider buying my first ever brand new car..... What does Nissan have to offer as competition in that section of the market at the moment? Nothing (in Australia anyway) :frown:

Hmm interesting at first when I read 1.2L I was like  is Nissan making a rotary powerplant?!?!? Then I saw it was a hybrid :squint:. I still don't like this tree-hugger hybrid sports car trend that we are seeing as of late. :tisk:

Oddly enough the Japanese car manufacturers are doing this probably aimed primarily at making an impact in the American market..

Looks hot. I hope this long, low look influences the rest of Infiniti.

Eh, I think it looks ok altho I am curious what kind of electric motor/gas motor combo blueprints they have come up with. How will it be a performance car? I feel like the sleek styling will not match the power output. But I like surprises.

Kinda looks like the essence with a shorter hood (more R8 proportions).

The looks are a mess. This was the case with the Essence as well. The pulled-taffy look is not good.

They asked the same thing about the M56 Hybrid.

Keep in mind, direct-injection gas engine, plus a high-torque electric engine, make for some serious horsepower and light weight. Gas / electric hybrids are a great compromise between performance and efficiency.

I was thinking they were going to rely on being lightweight and aerodynamics. I guess It'd be cool if it was the next Tesla (except a hybrid and more reliable). Like I said, I will welcome a surprise and a new generation in performance hybrids.

They are going to be making an M56 Hybrid? Currently its just the M35h, utilizing the VQ35.

I kinda want to agree, BUUUUUT. If they don't shoot for the moon, it'll let the brand get stagnant and lack any innovation that can trickle down to the rest of the lineup.

In a sense, look at all the money spent on the space program, seems pretty ludicrous. But think about all the technology that we've gained form it that we use in everyday life. Same can be said with military spending.

haha...the a** end of the sketch makes it look like the F458's dumpy sister.

Not enough clean lines. It looks way too busy just sitting there. Smooth it out and lose the un-needed lines and you have a great looking car. The 'brand identity' window kink in the rear doesn't fit at all either.

Front to mid looks good. Not really digging the rear, seems very out of place.
