so yeah im new! been lurking for awhile now, but anyway, iam curios if anyone here has actually put a full spool in a 240. I know about weir performance making them specifically for r200's but i wanna know if any of the 29-spline spools for 4x4 guys would just so happen to fit in a 240.

I've done some googling, as I'd like to play with a locked rear end but don't want to weld mine. Haven't been able to find anything, except people who have found or created one-offs or modified totally different spools, and the weir ones, which seem to be excessively priced (probably fair, but still) for a street car, considering that one can, if careful, buy an lsd for their price, or only a tiny bit more.

Anyway, I'm interested and subscribed.

do you know what spools people have modded? i would buy one from weir right now if i lived in cali, but shipping a 10-15 pound spool across the country prolly isnt gonna be cheap, also trying to find parts for a 240 here in ohio where i live isnt easy or cheap, i guess i should have explained that i had an open that i had a shop weld up for me, but, they messed it up, which is why iam now in this position of finding an alternative. some of the 29 spline spools from different companies
seem like they would work perfectly, but i know the diameter of a 240s flange shaft and a trucks will be different, anyway, any info you or anyone else has about this would be much appreciated!

I don't know, I saw some threads on various forums where people got surprise spools, like out of datsun race cars, or out of what they thought would be 180sx diffs, that turned out to have one-off or modified spools in them - as such, nobody really seemed to know the true origin of them.

I don't think shipping should be much, really.... when compared to the fact that it's a ~400 dollar paper weight. I mean, spools tend to be too expensive in general, when you look at how little there is to it.

If you could figure it out, it might also open up options for better deals on LSDs.

i feel compelled to find a spool that works, just so that if any others are interested in this, i will have a solution for them. i do want full lock though. i would get a 2-way if i find the right deal while im saving up and doing research though. agreed that spools are overpriced for what they are, but that's why i like the idea so much, its so simple. do you have a 240? any tips i should know? i just bought my s14 last fall and finally have been able to start working on it in the past few weeks. i don't have anything major planned for it, just a lot of new replacement parts, for now at least haha.
