Stuff done so far:
  • LED Interior/Exterior. Did most of it, just need to do the dome lights as the bulbs I had from my M35 were different than the ones in the M56.
  • Tint appointment made for November 22nd (20% all around and 50% front windshield)
  • Had the dealer transfer my wheels from the M35 to the M56

I did the opposite, lol.

I went from black to white. I added a pic of my old M for reference.

Sounds like the strut bar is on hold for the moment. I would think our engine bays are pretty identical on the M37/56. Only thing might be the clearance over the engine cover or wires and stuff in the way. I'm gonna stay on it as long as it's a viable option because I really want a strut bar for this car.

Yeah, I'm hoping it's doable. Sucks not having such a basic piece of suspension support that most after markets have. And it sucks that most of them are hundreds of dollars unlike the $50 one I had on my Maxima from EBay lol.

Surprised to hear you say you're going to do coils again after the headache they were on your 35X lol.

You're not afraid/concerned that the tint on the windshield will affect the lane departure warning system, etc?

The coils weren't bad, I just sucked at adjusting them (for some reason I don't understand the concept of raising/lowering a car and adjusting the collars, preload, etc.). Once I got a shop to set them properly, for the most part they were okay. For some reason the sway bar links kept going though...which may or may not happen on this car (since it's a different car/chasis). I just don't think a static drop will be low enough so I'll have to deal with small things like blown sway bar links, etc. I want to make this car look like a white version of Da Mayor's (just maybe a half inch or inch higher since he's LOW). I don't think springs will do that.

I'm going to have my guy cut the tint out for that system. As far as I know, the only camera for that is right above to the left of the mirror. Shouldn't be noticable unless you know to look for it. Similar to how the factory 'tint strip' goes around that area.

Ah ok...so you're planning on getting the front sport bumper and the aero skirts like he did?

I hear you on the coils..your "issues" plus the clunking noises everyone keeps mentioning makes me go back and forth about them...maybe when the weather warms back up..

I thought you were doing the entire windshield...sounds like you're just doing the strip?

Oh, I didn't know he had the aero skirts. Interesting. I just think the aero bumper is way too BOOM IN YO FACE lol. It's freakin huge IMO. Looks like Jay Leno's chin, sticking all forward and stuff lol. I haven't seen Kenny around on any forums for a while (I actually got to know him on a Maxima forum years ago). Do you know if he had to do anything with his fenders? Did he have to roll them. I dont' plan to be exactly as low as him, but his car is my inspiration.

Yeah, the 'clunking' goes away as soon as I put new sway bar links in. Problem is, the links go bad after 5,000 miles lol. I tried alignments, wheel balances, wheel rotations, etc. to no avail. I'm hoping, since this car is technically different, that it might be better. Also, I plan to do this car 100% right and not cut corners, so that may include getting the proper control arms, etc.

I am doing the whole windshield minus two areas:

1) Where the registration/inspection stickers go, I did the same on my M35. The premise behind this is that when a cop drives by, his attention isn't grabbed by very dark stickers making it look like my car is normal. Although, I was pulled over many a time for my side tints and they never even mentioned/asked about my windshield tint. I KNOW they noticed (due to the cutout).

2) The center part of the top where the camera for the lane system is and where my E-ZPass is. It would look something like this lol:

I like the sport front bumper also. I wish there was at least a good lip/chin splitter to add as an easier/cheaper option to replacing the bumper.

Edit:
Megan racing offers a camber kit, traction arms and toe arms for the M's now.

I hear ya Ilya. And yeah Kenny def had the aero sides and sport front bumper. Hahahahaha at "boom in yo face". I dunno man, I have the sport bumper on mine and am about to change it out for the Aero front. I think that kit really makes the car, just my opinion.

I had my front windshield tinted on my old Mazda back in the day and did the same thing, left the inspection stickers untinted. It'll look great.

I pulled the trigger on the camber and toes pieces for the Megan kit. I'll post up whenever I get around to installing them.

Is your bumper the same as mine? Or is the 2014 slightly different from the 2011? If it's the same, consider me having dibs on your sport bumper! I can't find them anywhere but the dealer. Is there anything involved in switching or is it straight bolt up? I know on the Y50, going from 07 to 08 required some work.

Definitely do a HowTo/report on the Megan pieces. You bought all three or only two of the three? They all look the same...are they just different names or three distinct separate things?

No, mine is different because I have the sport package so mine has the sport bumper instead of what I call the non sport, non aero bumper. I can't imagine there's any difference except you'll need a sport grille instead of the non sport grille.

That's what I meant...is it for the same 'frame/chasis' car. I have the non-sport bumper, I want the sport. So, if you are too part with it, let me know. I'll likely take it off your hands. I plan to get the midnight grille, so I think that'll take care of that as well.

Enhance the sporty and aggressive appearance of your Infiniti with a custom grille. fits all trim levels except S.

Not sure how the grills are different...

The bumpers are interchangeable across both chasis. I'll let you know if I part with it.

I've heard and seen that the midnight grille doesn't fit the sport bumper... I've never had it confirmed but if you look up the part it does exclude the Sport M/Q70's...

Man thats good start and a nice list of stuff. I think you will need different fogs with the sport bumper.
I was looking at Kennys build last night too, trying to get an idea of wheel offsets.
