I have a JDM motor swap. The oil pan is slightly dented. I want to replace it. How hard is it to replace the oil pump when I remove the old oil pan? Is it necessary?Would you guys do this?

Well I've heard ffrom a Z guru that oil pumps usually don't ever go bad on Z's so I wouldn't change it. I'm swapping an engine and plan not to change the oil pump, but definately change that oil pan.

what all is involved in the oil pan changing? just bolts..drop the pan and put the new one up with new gasket and then that's all? Oil change in the process.

I'm pretty sure you're going to have to drop the lower crossmember in order to get the clearance to get the pan around the pickup. Also you will have to remove some brackets on the engine. I could be wrong but I know it's not as simple as unbolting it because the crossmember and steering rack run directly under the pan.

You need to drop the front cross member and hold the engine with a hoist. Not exactly easy.
