So as some of you know i previously had an NA KA setup

Which looked like this here

It consisted of the Xcessive Intake ManifoldFidanza FlywheelHotshot HeaderUR Underdrive pulleyKoyo radiatorAgency power hosesMagnecor spark plug wiresand timing advanced a bit

I't was definitely fun and then one day the headgasket finally went, and i felt as if i was done with that setup so i decided it was now or never to do my SR swap.

Or you could rebuild your ka to stock spec and boost it and have the best time you have ever had with your 240 lol.

So it started like this

I bought it from a friend of mine who got it from J-Spec, I knew it was in good shape and was able to hear it running and be in the car/ watch it drive at a track event which made me comfortable.

I then started taking parts off of it such as the intake manifold and crank pulley as well as the old water pump and thermostat and all the old hoses under the intake manifold.

In the meantime the KA came out.

After cleaning the engine bay for awhile and taking out the ka wiring harness, the SR went in.

For now i'm going to end it with this picture of this massive truck exhaust.

I'll be back later

It looks like your making good progress so far. You probably already know this but just in case dont forget to make sure you DO NOT put a breather filter on the T on your valve cover. If you don't circulate it to your intake pipe or to a catchcan or it will build up pressure in your crankcase and destroy your sr very quickly especially after harsh driving conditions. Thats just something I learned from my 1st sr.

Oh and that exhaust is sick put that on your sr and you will get the best flow ever hahaha.

Yeah i actually have been seeing breathers a lot and thinking, that cant be good haha. I know it makes the oil get dirty really quick, and i actually made a thread about it not too long ago lol. Thanks for bringing it up though.

Yeah everything from that ka has been sold.
zach-Ka wrote:So far so good. If you make the sr look near as good as you did the ka it will be awesome.
Thanks man, yeah that is my plan. If it does not look as good as the KA then i wouldn't be satisfied with it so my goal is to make it clean, have the wiring look OEM and just an overall clean and somewhat simple swap.

Some will get it some will not, i could have worded it to be less confusing but oh well.

Next up was to change the hoses that are under the intake manifold. This took awhile to figure out since there isnt just a direct replacement set. Well until i came up with one. After the amount of time i put in to figuring all these hoses out i now sell a complete kit to make it easier on other people.

I like to use high quality products especially for the cooling system. I did a good amount of research all the light blue hoses are silicone coated, the darker blue is actually a samco piece and the " ? " shaped one is a gates hose. I called gates and goodyear to compare the two hoses and see which had a higher burst rating etc. before making my decision.

Here is how the engine sat after installing the hoses

Next up it was time to change the rear seal

After that i decided it was on to the flywheel which was a Fidanza

I had bought all brand new flywheel bolts as well. As the flywheel went on the center bore was a VERY VERY tight fit. I am wondering if anyone else had this happen to them with their Fidanza? Anyways a little bit of light tapping made it go on fine but it was a process of tap and remove and remove any small metal shavings and lube it with a small amount of oil.

After i knew it was on solid all the way around the flywheel bolts went in and were torqued to 100 Ft Lbs using red threadlocker.

This is the clutch that came off the engine originally, a 6 puck isn't something i wanted to use right now so i went with an OEM Exedy replacement.

As well as a Nismo clutch fork pivot.

Well thats it again for now but i will be updating more later today most likely, Ill end it with this

Happy Almost easter

Looks like it! lol nice.

After the hoses were in place, i decided it was time to install my newly purchased Greddy intake manifold. I thought about getting the ISIS one but for some reason i just couldn't talk myself in to it. So Greddy it was.

I also decided to block off the IACV on this setup so here is a plate that i originally intended on using for that.

I then was worried about it bowing in the center (very unlikely but still) So i decided to step it up and go super overkill.New block off plate

Next, i decided to start working on the wiring harness before installing the intake manifold. I started feeding it through and laid it in to place the way i wanted, obviously i had to extend the o2 harness if i wanted it to be ran this way. Fine with me, i would way rather make an extension harness for that than to run the wiring a way that is less clean.

After that was at least laid out how i was planning, i decided to move on to figuring out the oh so ugly upper heater hose setup. So, this is how it was originally when i purchased the engine.

GROSS!

I was planning out a different way to go about this to make it clean and presentable without cutting the tube that it attaches to. So first was to find a hose that did a "U" shape that i could use behind the engine, the best would be a hose that did a fairly tight "U" I found the one i was looking for and it looks like this once it was installed

I also got an Alloy hose joiner since i dont want to worry about the plastic one breaking ever. I then attached it to the other hose which i cut to fit perfectly and it all went together like this.

I might be back to update more in 5 minutes but i am so tired. I wonder if anyone else is even on here right now.

Ok so i grabbed a glass of milk and now im back in action.

Next up i decided to make a small bracket to hold my Ignitor chip in place.

Simple but it will do the trick.

Then the Intake manifold went on, as well as the Ignitor chip bracket device

After looking at my old throttle body i decided to get a new one not knowing if this would cause a vacuum/boost leak, either way i did not want to take the chance. So i bought another used one.

Heres what i was worried about on the old one.

I decided i wanted this valve cover to be polished and shaved just like my ka one was, I also wanted to replace all of the grommets and nuts that hold the valve cover on since they were not all matching.

I purchased a brand new full set from Ray at the Nismo shop (thanks again Ray.) He had them out to me fairly quick and i was definitely happy to have them.

I was about to pull my valve cover off and start sanding it down when i realized that a friend of mine already had a polished and shaved cover that he did not want. He wanted a stock blacktop one which is exactly what i had! We did a trade and we were both happy.

It was pretty clean in there, i was happy. My friend took great care of it by doing a mobil 1 full synthetic change every event.

I thought maybe something was up with this cam but i figure its probably just the stock part number since i have seen nothing about it.

Here is the new cover in place with all the brand new hardware!

Well that's it for tonight i definitely need to get some sleep.

Here is a picture of an Anteater.

Allright, the next thing i did was remove the disgusting rusty battery tray and plan the cut out for the cold pipe. I decided to go with a square rather than a circle just to give the pipe a little more room and make it easier to feed through. Some may like it some may prefer the circular method. Either way the square/rectangle was cut out

Next i figured i would try to figure out how i was going to set up my throttle cable bracket. I had used one that bolts to the throttle body on my ka which was included with the Xcessive intake manifold i had purchased. I gave Rich a call at Xcessive and had him send me another bracket. I thought i had it all figured out and it would work perfectly.

I was wrong, the bracket was too long, so instead of shortening it i decided to try a different route that i had been hearing about. This was actually printed in the instructions that came with the Greddy manifold. They said you can use an S14 SR throttle pulley along with the stock throttle cable bracket. Since the OEM S14 throttle pulley was back-ordered with no ETA so i decided to go with the Top speed one.

It was very nice looking and i bolted it on to the throttle body and slid the cable in put the stock bracket in place and to my surprise this did not work either.

At this point i stopped thinking about that bracket for a little while and decided to test fit my Greddy cold pipe. As well as set my battery in place to see how i wanted to mount it. YAY! for small batteries.

Success, something actually fit.

Be back to update again soon. I need food!

Next up was the water pump, Since the old one came off in one big combo pack i decided that i would just buy everything new.

Here is the old stuff, i literally stopped caring and just threw it at the ground to see how stuck together it actually was. It never came apart and i'm thinking about using it as a paper weight.

Here is the new water pump installed.

I was waiting for my Nismo thermostat to come in the mail so i decided to start working on the fuel system. I was looking around for a brand new oem fuel rail. After searching for hours trying to find out why all of the oem fuel rails only had 3 tabs on them instead of 4 like the one that came with my engine i found out that Nissan had actually changed them for the later models.

I had to cut one of the tabs off already since i was running the Greddy intake manifold so i was not sure how the fuel rail would hold up being bolted down with only two bolts like so.

Here i did the cutting of the tab

I had found a couple other people that did it this way without any problems so that made me comfortable. I also decided to use the stock FPR for initial startup once its running just to avoid any problems that could be caused by fuel pressure. I will be changing the FPR to a Sard one after the engine is running though.

For now i bought the Greddy swivel adapter.

I was looking at the stock injectors that came with my swap and saw that one small piece of the pintle cap was broken off no big deal right?

Since i am insane about this build i decided to replace all 4 injectors with brand new ones. So i called Deatschwerks and got 4 brand new 370cc replacements. They came very well packaged and they also came with a flow chart!

Now off to get something to drink, will possibly update more later today!
