I can't seem to find struts for my 1994 Q45. I have been calling different places and no aftermarket struts are available for that year. I'm wondering in any of you know if 1993 struts would fit on my 1994; at least in the front. I have no problem finding struts for a 1993. Please advice.

:welcome: to NICO!

Unfortunately they're different parts... I can't remember the actual difference though. Hopefully someone else will chime in soon.

Not sure what you have been told but ive ran front and rear struts from 94 and 95 on my 93 Q with absolutely no issues. Everything was exactly the same. All G50

Yes the rear is the same, but don't apply blanket statements to the rest of the suspension. The fronts are not the same since the 94-96 have the larger bore bottom mount than the 90-93. You would just have to bore out the bottom mount from 20mm to 22mm. There are some funny things about some 93 cars, some have the metal chain guides while others don't.

The other major difference is the tension rod length is different just for future reference. Good luck finding struts, it seems the only option is coil-overs at this point.

Must be something to do with the production date maybe but I PROMISE you I have used all kinds of different parts on my 93 and never ran into a problem. Due to camber issues on used struts, ive swapped out struts probably 3 times over the last year all from different G50 chassis, struts and tension rods. No issues. im running S13 tension rods and poly bushings right now. All my struts are currently out of a 95 but they come from 2 different cars since I swapped the front and the rear at different times. If you can find anything at your local junkyard man buy it! Q stuff is becoming much harder to find. Unfortunately ive found that most tension rods on junkyard cars are toast. I think ive got 1 good one out of maybe 3 sets ive looked at. I just pulled a set of tokico blues off a 94 this weekend and installed them as a matter of fact. Unfortunately they were blown so had to go back to my stock 95s.

I'm sure yours if fine, but there was a mid year change in 93 where they made some changes before the new body in 94. Lets say that 1990-92 have 20mm lower mounts and 22mm in 94-96, that is a fact. The 1993 model is a crap-shoot in terms of metal backed chain guides so I'd assume the third member is the same.

Z32 and S13 aftermarket adjustable arms and bushings are all the same. The Z32 ball joints are the same, the cone seat on them is not.

I can go on, I've replaced the entire suspension with either poly bushings or Z32 adjustable, this includes ball joints and LCA bushings. I'm running R32 skyline front brakes which are not the same as the Z32, but mount the same.

Thank you all for your advice,

I finally got the struts done on my 1994 Q45, I used 1993 struts for the front and the back. My mechanic had to make the bottom holes bigger for the front struts, it was a real pain in the ars since he didn't have a drill press. The rear struts fit right in without the need of any modification, they seem to be the same part as the 1994 struts.

Thank you once again.
