i was removing the shifter to replace the bulb with an led because i like to drive with my lights on and it gets hot with the regular bulb and with the led it will stay cooler.

its a 194 LEd bulb.

first step is to pull down with a firm grip on the little chrome looking plastic peice until it falls down... if it is hard to get ( like mine was) i used a flat head screwdriver wraped in a microfiber cloth to prevent scratching and pried it down.

then remove the little silver retaining pin

and put it somewhere where it will not be lost.

and then you can just pull up on the shifter and the knob will slide right off.

i moved the car into N so that i can get some more room to move the trim piece around and then just pull up and towards the front of the car and

and then after you replace the light you are done..... just remember to put the chrome trim piece back on before you put the shifer on. and make sure that its the right way.

the led that i had wasnt bright enough so im going to order a new one. and then i will post pics.

The hole wont fit a large LED bulb, make sure to measure before you order a brighter bulb!

i know this is off topic but since you removed the shifter are there other shifters with the button that donsnt let you shift with out putting your foot on the brake

Also, what makes it orange? Is it the bulb or is the backside of the letters painted?
