Hi all,
My sport headlight started to peel and I'm finding conflicting solutions. I'm finding solutions to fix cloudy headlights ( wet sand the headlight then polish) and no solution for peeling headlights. Has anyone had this issue and came up with a solution?

Sorry I don't have any suggestions; however, I'm starting to get the same issue on my headlights and curious for a longterm solution versus a quick fix that has to be done every year or so. Will be staying tuned...

I would fully wetsand it 3 steps and polish 2 steps and put some UV resistant clear film as a permanent fix. Looks like your factory uv coating is peeling.

Stupid question..do I need to remove the headlight? What grit do I use?

You could but that would involve removing bumper etc. so it is not necessary. Just tape around the headlight area so you dont accidentally sand clearcoat. Depending on condition of headlights such as rock chips and scratches I wouldndt
Do lower start than 800 grit thats to remove some deeper inperfections but normally 1500, 2000, 2500-3000 grit before polish.

there is a shop here in NC, that completly restores headlights and sells them on ebay... From what I've seen they wetsand, and instead of clear film, they buff like crazy, then spray a UV clear over top... they come out really well. And if you call you can send them your lights for refurbishment... I think mine were 50 bucks dropped off... will find the number for ya if you want.

I wrapped mine in slightly tinted vinyl on my first M when the headlights started peeling.

all fixed..i used 800 grit to get the clear coat off and then sanded and polished with a drill using meguires headlight restore kit . FYI, for anyone doing the this..use a power drill not a cordless drill for the polishing part.
