Notes- There are two types of after market Cone filters, Wet and Dry. This write-up is for Dry type filters. Wet type filter require re-oiling. Check with you filter manufacturer for details.

- This should be performed 3-4 times a year, or when the filter is noticeably dirty.

1. Remove the filter. Using screwdriver or ratchet loosen the worm gear clamp. Twist the filter and pull it off the intake pipe.

2. Place a rag in the open intake pipe to prevent debris from entering.

3. Place the filter in some warm soapy water and brush lightly with a sponge or brush.

4. Rinse thoroughly, inside and out with clean warm water.

5. Let filter sit and thoroughly air dry, over night is a good idea.

6. When filter is dry, remove the rag and re-install filter.

Nothing new here, not since august (intake, hood struts, sway bar, endlinks). I've bought the big three kit by Sentintbydesign, but it's going to be a while before it's ready.

I bought a Condo a last month so I'm being careful with spending.

I didn't know you could just wash these with soap and water. I thought you had to use the K&N RECHARGE kit. Or something similiar.

I'm guessing this applies to the Injen intake filter as well?

Oh man, I just took a second look at your pictures. The pic with the stream of water falling onto the filter is hypnotizing. Awesome picture, frozen in time. Looks like a stick of jello.

On dry filters you can do that, oiled filters need to be cleaned with a "recharge kit" or soaked in gas, then re-oiled, then let dry overnight on newspaper and then installed!

I'm pretty sure Injen filters (and I thought all open filters) are wet filters. In fact, Injen sells a recharge kit that is for use with all their short ram intake kits.

I used the K&N recharge kit on mine when I cleaned it.

No not all open filters are wet, and the gasoline thing is not recommended for K&N, and certainly not soap and water, buy the recharge kit with the proper cleaner from your local auto store.

ANd be CAREFUL to not use too much oil as it can foul your MAS

touch the filter....if your fingers get oily from touching the filter, then you got yourself a wet filter.

Are they interchangeable on the same intake system?

Basically, if you have a Wet Filter, could you go buy a Dry filter and make that change?

Yes, you just have to make sure the inlet size matches and length is correct. I am running an AEM dryflow filter on my Injen intake. Part # 21-204DK.
